The name Slice Parlor is an understatement, since it serves very large pizzas, excellent salads, very reasonably priced, $5 pint, draught (draft) beers and 2 feet half circles of superb calzones. Also slices of pizza, of course. The only difference with previously made large pizzas sliced for serving hot or lukewarm depending upon your arrival time and how long the pizza has been waiting for you to order a slice thereof, they bake the slice to your specifications after you order. In our first visit, we order a spinach basil calzone with ricotta & mozzarella cheeses inside that was probably the best calzone I have ever had. I am not a vegetarian and you don't have to be one to enjoy this calzone. Or, you may choose the inner stuffings from any and all of the toppings available for pizzas listed on the menu. Both inside and outside seatings are available. The inside acoustics has much to be desired as echos and reverberations linger continuously to create an ambience of old fashioned busy railroad stations and crowded Asian bazaars. The outside acoustics are dictated by how many cars are driving by and if the driver-owner loves specialized exhausts that sacrifice noise for thrill and engine efficiency. In either case, you accept it, dig in, sip or glug in your beer, burn your fingers almost to pick up a slice of the calzone with piping hot cheeses dripping from the cut edges, to eat and be totally and pleasantly satisfied with its balanced taste and freshness. I know I'll invite many of my friends to join me over there very soon. Perhaps I'll find you, the unknown reader, sitting by a neighboring table, enjoying and sharing a large pizza, calzone and a house salad, which is their garden salad with pepperoni and cheeses on top, with your company of family and friends. I ordered this very salad to accompany my two feet half circle calzone and a pint of LaCumbre Elevated IPA. I may...
Read moreFirst off, Mitch was amazing. He was friendly and kind. We had ordered a pizza, swapping mushrooms for green Chile, as I am deathly allergic to mushrooms. I have been to slice parlor before, and they’re usually pretty good with allergies. The pizza came out with mushrooms on it, so we notified Mitch, who then notified the kitchen. The new General Manager came out, in a huff, and was EXTREMELY rude to us about allergies. I understand cross contamination, and usually a clean cutter does the trick. However, he was EXTREMELY combative with my date and I about how “allergies suck” and everything has touched mushrooms and there was no way to avoid contamination. BUT! My pizza had sliced mushrooms on it, when we requested there be none. I am a manager myself, and if I (or any of my team) had EVER spoken to a customer the way we were spoken to, I would have immediately lost my job. I, myself, will never return to Slice Parlor, but I hope this GM or whoever he is gets a clue and realizes you treat others with basic kindness and respect and not the abject rudeness and hatred that we experienced tonight. I hope no one ever, even the rudest customer, ever ever ever gets the same service we experienced tonight. Again, Mitch was amazing and I hope he doesn’t get any negative actions after tonight’s events. As someone who has frequented Slice Parlor (both in person and via door dash) for a while now, I’m very disappointed and quite sad that I experienced this tonight. The GM should be ashamed, and really needs customer service training. He should not be allowed to speak to people until he learns some humility and a basic understanding of how you interact with fellow human beings. Way to go, Mitch! I’m sorry your new boss needs training in how to be a...
Read moreI made my first visit to the Slice parlor on Montgomery the other day and my overall experience wasn't at all bad. Although I had a difficult time navigating my way into their parking lot, this restaurant is nonetheless much larger than their Central location. Allowing for you to bring in larger parties of people with less concern that there isn't going to enough room to get properly situated (if at all). Menus are located on each table and offer a variety of pizza, salad, and calzone combinations. After browsing for a considerable amount of time. I finally settled on the spinach and basil calzone. I rarely ever order calzones in restaurants. Partly because of the high calorie content, but mainly due to the fact that calzones just tend to be (in my experience) 60% air and 40% overloaded cheese. When mine arrived, I was surprised by both the presentation and generous portion size. Apparently, I had chosen the right restaurant to order a calzone in. Sitting in front of me were four large pizza shaped slices of stuffed cheese, spinach, and basil. Every bit was savory and filling but required utensils to properly eat. I took the second half home to enjoy later, which was something I was hardly planning on doing when I arrived. Service was good, but I feel that it could have been a little bit more attentive. Despite that, I enjoyed my recent visit to Slice Parlor on Montgomery and look forward to trying some of their other offerings in the...
