Mugsys Grill and Catering — Restaurant in Albuquerque

Great service, great place to eat, great people. Food on the other hand was not kicking like I thought it would. We had the gumbo, Cajun burger, boudin balls and beginets.

Gumbo, I'm use to South like church point, Lafayette area of cooking and that gumbo tasted nothing like Louisiana to me. Cajun burger was a regular green chile double burger. The boudin balls we loved but wished there was more flavor of the boudin. But this was our favorite. Beginets were waaaay different as well they are usually airy and thick kinda like a sopapilla but better an thicker with honey and powdered sugar, this was more doughy and chewy and had a bland taste.

Overall I believe this is a great place and is great to show NM a twist of the south! :)

Liking the new menu. The cheese steak is the real deal. Best I've had outside Philadelphia and the sourunding area. Onions were cooked down and full of flavor. 100% cold shaved ribeye, non of that form pressed steakum bs. Boardwalk cheddar cheese fries with bacon .. .and they kept the corn and gumbo from the original menu. All great choices in a laid back dog friendly...

Ordered a Philly cheesesteak. Get my order and sit down, there’s no cheese on it. I go back and let the girl know.
