I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Hubs and I found this place about 8 months ago and we eat there almost every week!!! Lunch or Dinner (I usually have leftovers for lunch the next day), it is ALWAYS CONSISTENTLY DELICIOUS!!! Your food is ALWAYS HOT. Soup, appetizer, entree - it's always served steaming! FAST - they don't jack around in placing your food order, food doesn't sit around for someone to bring it to you, you get it within seconds of it being plated! CLEAN - tables, chairs, booths, dishes, utensils, cups are ALWAYS CLEAN! SERVICE, SERVICE, SERVICE - SUPER friendly staff, always smiling, always happy to see you, NEVER run out of our drinks, they ALWAYS ask at least twice if you need extra rice or sauce or anything. They are on it, no waiting around for anything! DEEEELICIOUS!!! Wonton Soup, Hot and Sour Soup, Lo Mein, Beef with Veggies, Pork, Chicken, Rice, Noodles, EVERYTHING we've ordered is always fantastic!!! And I get my fortune cookie with the check! Very reasonably priced for GOOD sized portions. The first several times we ate here all I could think of was going out with my Mom and sister to the Chinese place we loved and how I haven't had food as good as that in YEARS. And we found it at the Rising Star!! THANK YOU for your hard work, fantastic food and the...
Read moreVery disappointed. Was looking forward to some great takeout for lunch based on all the reviews, but my experience was not very good at all. 1st, I ordered the lunch special (L21, General Tso's Chicken), which, according to their website, includes choice of rice, choice of soup, and an egg roll for $6.85....which is a great price. I placed my order over the phone and specified pork fried rice and egg drop soup, and was given a 20 minute time frame for pick up. When I arrived, my order was ready, but there was no soup. When I pointed the missing soup out, I was told that soup is not included in take out orders. WHAT?!? This was not mentioned on the phone when I placed the order and specified the soup. Since I was there already and starving, I went ahead and paid....same price even though they don't include the soup. Moving on.... when I finally opened up the carry out box, there was no pork fried rice...just a SMALL portion of regular fried rice. And to top it all off, the chicken was extremely overcooked, and the sauce had a slightly burnt flavor, not to mention it was a very small serving compared to other great eateries such as Dragon Wok on Academy. I am very disappointed, especially considering the great reviews. I'll stick with my regular place, never...
Read moreWas going to give 2 stars... but our innards objected and voted it down. Tried the orange beef and chicken fried rice. I wouldn't have known it was orange beef in a blind test. It had a slice of orange on top which, I assume, tells me they got the order right. Otherwise, it was a strange dark red (or dark orange) color and tasted mostly like it was battered in spice cake batter. That is, it was HEAVILY spiced with cinnamon, clove, ginger, and/or nutmeg (probably nutmeg). It tasted powdery as well. No batter should feel powdery after frying. I can't say it was an altogether bad flavor... just not like any other orange beef I've had. They need to move it from their "Chef's Specialties" section to "Chef's Travesties!" As to the fried rice, after the assault of the HEAVILY spiced beef, it was hard to tell if anything else was good or not. That is, the chicken fried rice seemed to taste of nutmeg and fish... but I doubt it really was. Not the worst Chinese I've ever had, but pretty close to it. Considering how it later made us ill... not worth the risk of a second chance as I often do before calling it quits on a...
