I usually love this place but yesterday was the worst experience. I know it is early in the season for crawfish but their sign said Live so we figured we would try it out earlier in the year than we ever have. We ordered 5 lbs of live crawfish, 24 count of shrimp, a whole fried tilapia, hot wings, and an additional 2 lbs of live crawfish. All seafood was in Bayou regular sauce. Usually the regular bayou sauce is heavily loaded with garlic all through the sauce but this time it was not the case. The 5 lbs were mostly large with a handful or two of such tiny crawfish that they literally could not be peeled and consumed because they just boiled away. The additional 2 lbs were nothing but the same tiny crawfish. It was all quite disappointing after spending $150. My suggestion wait until the crawfish have adequate time to grow. We always get the bayou sauce so not sure why it was changed. Hopefully this place isn’t turning into every other restaurant that lessens their quality to make more $. We all know that never works and ends up making a place lose business and inevitably close down.
Update: A member for customer service reached out trying to make things better. I explained that I would definitely be back once the crawfish get bigger and that I was not looking for a hand out. I appreciate them reaching out. Like my review says above, I love this place usually. My go to place for crawfish since everything is always fabulous. Did make a few minor recommendations that I believe will be helpful for success. They explained that they do not like to sell crawfish this early in the season due to the size but they have to have it since their competitors do. I completely understand this!
Update 1/27/2025: We returned on 1/26/25 and were pleasantly surprised that the issues that I spoke to the owner about truly were implemented. Fresh Live Crawfish that a decent price and size. The mangonada here is to die for! Crawfish, unpeeled shrimp, crab (either kind), and wings are highly recommended here. Their boil sauce is absolutely amazing. I could literally drink it if I wanted. Added potato and corn to my crawfish this time and they were fantastic as well. Words really cannot describe how much me and my family love this place. Try it and you will not be disappointed. Not ever very crowded inside but they get a ton of...
Read moreUpdate to my former review, I initially gave this restaurant a 1 star in everything. I'm changing my opinion, here's why.....the owner of the restaurant graciously welcomed me back in to reorder the food and to have a much better experience. I must say when the staff was informed of my intent to visit. I recieved the very best service, the food was amazing, and I had no problems whatsoever.
I wanted to be thorough and give an accurate and valid assessment of the restaurant. We decided to return, this time I sent my son in to order and pay for the food. He wasn't greeted, he asked for a special request that wasn't provided. The cashier was seen using her phone, However everyoneison their phones nowadays. When he asked questions she provided answers and he said she seemed to know alot about the menu. The food was freshly prepared, although the taste was not as great as when they were prepared for my arrival. The wait time was about 35 minutes.
I do see improvements, the owner is friendly and seems to care a great deal about his responsibility as an owner and the customers. I will order again.
Initial review::::
I was recommended this seafood spot by a friend. Upon arrival the staff wasn't very pleasant. One person was on the phone, the other greeted me after I was there for a couple of minutes. I ordered Gumbo, which is on the menu. The staff stated Gumbo isn't sold until the end of the year,November and December. I inquired about other menu items they were either unavailable or the staff member said that the item weren't very tasty. I asked what the staff member likes on the menu she said the shrimp poboy, but she said it'll take upwards of 20 minutes to get one. Then I inquired about family meals and was told that she wouldn't order a family meal there, I opted to leave and order food elsewhere. Do I reccomend it, no. If the staff won't eat there, why should anyone else. FYI when I arrived the place was completely empty. Not one person...
Read moreI took my family here to eat. Let me tell you something, I nearly bit my finger eating these freshly cooked snowcrabs. Jesus take the wheel!
I literally blew my back out from eating so much of this perfectly cooked Cajun food. Have you ever had something so good that it made you want to cry? Well, this is it right here!!!!!
Lastly, they play music that I don't generally listen to in this establishment. One of the songs that came on was inappropriate for my grandbabies to be listening to. I didn't hear it because I was concentrating on the bill. My daughter said, "Mama, ask them to change that song, I don't want the kids to hear that." Without hesitations, I relayed the information to a beautiful young lady who was working behind the register. Thinking to myself that their going to ignore me, the song cut off and another one came on.
Mind you, there are a lot of young ppl working at this eatery. Do you know she didn't mix words with me! She didn't even get an attitude! None of them were offended because I asked that they change the song!!!!!!! I'm really moved by this because respectful young ppl like this are hard to find and I will be back there this weekend with my entire CREW!!!
This is a long review, however, if we as a ppl can take out time to point out all of the bad things about eateries, bad food, horrible service, blah blah blah, then we should want to hold our young ppl UP when they're doing a FINE JOB!!! A small frame red hair girl was constantly cleaning the tables. Others were greeting customers when they were coming in the door. I couldn't get my order right, so the red hair girl helped me put it together so it wouldn't cost so much.
Everything about this visit was MEMORABLE!!! Next time I'm getting names. There will be a part 2 to...
