So for starters, I do not often leave reviews. If I leave a review, then I was beyond impressed or horribly dissatisfied. My husband and I wanted a highly rated breakfast to start our week off and after leaving the airport, we found Moms Country Kitchen. As a first timer, they explained how it works (as they have a cafeteria style line in addition to their breakfast all day) and we chose breakfast. The service was top notch with our server checking on us regularly. We both ordered: OJ, Coffee, and Chicken & Waffles. The orange juice tastes very fresh (like sucking on an orange). The coffee is delicious and they constantly refill it as needed. The chicken (three large wings) was fried crispy and busting with flavor! If they did hot wings (which they may), that would be incredible! šŸ˜‹ The Belgian waffle was incredibly tasty, so much so we didn’t forgot take a photo. For dessert we opted to try the banana pudding and the peach cobbler, both make you want to slap your mama! Jk! They were both homemade and tasted like they won first place in a dessert competition! We will be back!

This is the best place to eat IN HOUSTON! Home cooking like I was at my mom's (if she could cook)! Lol Everything I've had here is seasoned perfectly, with generous portions (take half home for lunch tomorrow!) Even the "healthy" options tasted like I was cheating on my diet. (I had the fish today with green beans and turnip greens. All that bacon and butter in the vegetables added calories, I'm sure, but my mouth was IN HEAVEN.) I ordered mine in a to-go container because this ain't my first Mom's Country Kitchen rodeo! I wish I could be in a commercial for this place. The owner is fun and sassy and was born for the hospitality industry along with her crew behind the counter. You'll love Mike and Mrs. Rhonda with the first smile and then fall in love again with the first bite! And do yourself a favor and say yes to dessert. Just this once. šŸ˜‰ I hope I always work close to this sweet lil shack in the middle of seemingly nowhere, but even if I didn't we'd make the drive. Guess I'm going to have to increase my cardio....#worthit! We will be back!

I can’t believe I drove by this little gem so many times without realizing something was there! I found it online and we decided to take a family friend. We were torn between the steam table and the menu but decided to order off the menu. Soooo many great options. The breakfast options were way better than any other breakfast place and they are huge! I was craving fries so I decided to go with the Yardbird, which was a really great choice for me. I was skeptical about the aioli that came in the sandwich but it was really good! Crystal was just the best. She took such good care of us! Jon Michael was so welcoming when we first walked in. I will definitely be back here more. Especially now that I know it’s in my neighborhood! It’s a pretty busy place but they seem to accommodate everyone very well in a decent amount of time. It does feel like a mom’s kitchen!

I was up on the north side meeting some clients and it was getting closed to lunch time. Based on Yelp search, this is one of the restaurants that has 3 stars or higher and based on the reviews, the portions are good and the price is low. I like the combinations of those two in these tough economic times. When you first pull out to the restaurant, you know the building is old and the decorations may seem like a day care center with all the cartoony farm animals on the side of the building. I already know this isn't fancy dining and it was cute, in a way. The menu is simple, you can choose 1 entree and 1 side, or 2 sides, or 3 sides or whatever combinations you want. I am big country fried steak guy so I ordered that with white gravy and 2 sides of vegetables (mixed veggies and corn). You will pay first and you can get your drinks here. If you order fountain drinks, you will get a colored wood clip that the server will take away to know you have ordered fountain drinks.

There's a range of size of seating in this restaurant, for big and small crowd. As soon as I sat down, the server drop by and ask what I would like to drink, I took a look at their soda dispenser and ordered the root beer. She came back promptly with the drink along with a bread basket with your roll and corn bread. On the table, there's already condiments of all kind, especially hot sauces.

The food is definitely averagely good, you definitely get your money worth. The roll and the corn bread are a bit dry but hey, it's free bread. Again, the server is fast and refilled my drink without needing to ask and still remembered that I had root beer. She also did ask if...

Update: I gave this place a break for about a year after hearing disturbing stories from the staff on my last visit there. It's a challenge coming here because of their hours. They are only open until 3 and they are closed on the weekends, so if you have a job, it's hard to make it here. Today, on my day off, I drove an hour and twenty minutes in the hopes of getting a stuffed pork chop. I arrived at 1 pm and they told me they were out of pork chops. I always get the meatloaf and wanted something different, but I was willing to settle for the meatloaf. Well, they were out of that too. So, I said ok I'll have the oxtails. Well, surprise surprise they were out of oxtails as well. They had some "gumbo" that looked like canned dog food and that was it. So I left after wasting almost 3 hours of travel time round trip. I have watched this business rapidly decline over the years and it's sad. Not only do they treat their staff like trash, they apparently can't run a business properly since they run out of food. Maybe they need to reach out for help before they end up going out of business. Maybe that would be a good thing at this point. Bottom line.... DO NOT GO HERE unless you want to be disappointed or like dog food.

Original review: I used to love this place, however, the last time I was there all the server did was complain about how horrible the owner is and how badly they treat the employees. I was literally horrified by the stories the employees were telling me. I was so disappointed to hear this and haven't returned, nor will I. I recommend that you don't either. Patronize places that know how to treat their employees...

I don’t see what everyone is talking about, when they say this place has great home made food. Uhmm, I gave this place 2 chances since it is literally 2 minutes away from my job. The first time I thought maybe they just didn’t prepare it well. My first time trying Mom’s, I ordered a bacon cheeseburger (I figured it would be hard to screw up a burger; WRONG) the meat patty was clearly frozen prior to being prepared as it was very dry and the lack of flavor certainly did not help either. Fat forward a couple of weeks, I was craving country fried steak, so I figured maybe they will redeem themselves, because after all, they are a country kitchen, right? Ordered my food, only to stare at a plate with my country fried steak made from the same frozen patty that the burger was made from, which overall also lacked flavor. The gravy, which I was hoping to save the meal, also met me with an overwhelming lack of flavor. Just overall disappointed with the food from this establishment, which is unfortunate because I love country dishes and it’s so close to my job. But I’d rather drive the Extra distance and go to Angie’s Country kitchen, which is just down the road, and you get your moneys worth with the amazing flavors of their freshly prepared food.

Edit: I definitely wrote the review on the right restaurant. Which I clearly stated I WOULD MUCH RATHER drive the distance and go out of my way to drive to Angies to get better food. I work off of pine timbers which is definitely closer to Moms. Had to clarify, in case it was not clear in the...
