Great Hunan Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Alexandria

We came here for dinner tonight. I got the Schezuan style bean curds, my husband got the Kung Pao Chicken, and my father-in-law got the Double Wonder.

Our server, Diane, was wonderful and very attentive! I was impressed with how she was taking care of 20+ tables by herself and still checked in on us to make sure we had everything. It looks like the owners have to take our order so when they didn’t come right away, she immediately informed them and empathized with us.

Of note, I was expecting the food to be spicy and it wasn’t very spicy. There were no Schezuan peppers in my dish and my husband only had 1 in his dish. It was very different from what I was expecting to get but still tasted really great for Chinese...

We had ordered over $120 worth of food and for that I do have to say service was quick and their COVID pickup is efficient (hence the 2 stars). If I could give the food 0 stars I would. I specifically asked for 3 of the dishes to be “extra spicy”. I know that is hard to get in MN but I was hopeful because they asked me for the spice level, I didn’t have to even bring it up! It was even on the receipt as “extra spicy” (in English and Chinese) Unfortunately, I received no dishes with anything spicier than ketchup. Go here once every couple months, but every time they manage to go above and beyond with their guest service! Kudos to them! Atmosphere can use a little bit more enthusiasm or maybe have someone do a little bit of a talent there! Food is above the expectations for a Chinese Restaurant! They cook everything thoroughly and continue to cook it at a consistent rate! I say that sometimes portions are either a little too small or sometimes it’s too much.
