I was in on 12/28 at around 8 pm to get a hand packed quart of cake batter ice cream. Both employees were helping the family before me with their order. After the customers paid, the male employee stepped back to finish their order while the female started counting a few dollar bills laid out on the counter behind her. She turned around to look at me waiting to be helped, then she turned back around and continued to count her money without acknowledging me. I stood there for a few more minutes until the male employee, who was still finishing up the last order, looked up and saw that I was still waiting. He looked at the girl who was still counting her money and went over and asked her to help me. They had words and then she returned to counting her dollar bills. At this point the male employee had to stop what he was doing to help me, The female employee still continued to count (what I assume were tips) and kept her back to me. Male employee continued packing my cake batter. I then noticed that you had banana ice cream too, so I asked him to add some of that to my container if he could. I could tell he was annoyed because he started to say something and didn't even try to hide his irritation, but he did fit some in. He finished my hand packed quart and set it on the counter. I had to ask him for a bag. I had to ask for a bag to carry my container of ice cream ? Unbelievable. The long and short of it was that both employees made me feel like I was putting them out by being there. I was literally the only person in there after the prior customers left. I feel like the female employee was especially rude by looking at me and then turning her back to me without a word. When I paid I noticed there was an option to tip. Tip for what, for being treated like I was annoying them by being there ? I will never return to...
Read moreI try not to write bad reviews and I have a pretty high bar of tolerance but I was pushed over the edge. I got to the store intending to get a to go container with some ice cream for me and some for my mother. I could not see pricing or advertising for the take-home options because there was a large group of noisy teenagers in front of the counter (non-customers). I asked about it and the employee started helping me. It was hard to communicate as the teenagers were directly in front of the counter and extremely disruptive. They appeared to be friends of the employee helping me.
I wanted two different ice cream combinations next to each other in the largest take home container, which I have done before at a different location. If this wasn't possible I would have just gotten two smaller sizes but I wasn't told this. Both orders were just mixed together. I was prepared to suck it up and take it anyway. But now a non worker showed up behind the counter, wearing a Steak & Shake uniform-- extremely unprofessional. Also, the employees were not wearing gloves. I don't know if this is standard practice or not but I saw him touch my ice cream with his bare hands.
At this point I just wanted to leave as soon as possible, between the unprofessional behavior and the extremely noisy teens. The employee rung me up and it seemed high. I could not verify the pricing as this wasn't displayed anywhere. I asked for a receipt so I could double check but what I received wasn't itemized, making it useless for what I needed. When I got home I checked online but pricing isn't displayed there either. I am very disappointed. Coldstone is my favorite ice cream but reserved for a special treat due to the high prices. I did not receive the order I wanted, my food was touched with bare hands, and I was probably...
Read moreWorst experience I’ve ever had at any ice cream parlor. First of all, when you walk in there is no direction for the line so everyone just clusters around and doesn’t know where to go. There was a girl and a guy working there. The girl was finishing helping a couple and the guy started helping a large party of around 7. When she finished helping the couple, the girl proceeded to start refilling everything in the store right in front of us as we waited for 10 minutes for the man to finish with the large party. We expressed our frustration to the guy and ordered our ice cream. The girl then came up to us and asked us if we had been helped. We said yes after waiting 10 minutes for you to restock everything which is unacceptable. She then said “Yeah but that’s part of my job” without a single word of apology or sense of remorse. We replied with no, that’s not acceptable to leave us sitting there and she continued to argue and say that restocking everything was more important. Unbelievable. About to pay $7 for a shake and you are arguing with me? I don’t know if this is the management’s fault for not training them to value the customer or if they truly are...
