I really wanted to love this place. This is only constructive as I am a great cook and if I cant do something the right way , I don't do it. To my disappointment the food was not good 1 out of three thing was great. The waitress was really nice and my drink was delicious. My husband ordered Reuben (pastrami) the bread it was on was horrible and the pastrami was cheap deli pastrami, they definitely don't make their own pastrami. I ordered pasta and it was great, cooked al dente (firm) the way pasta should be cooked. the sauce was flavorful and delicious. We ordered calamari for appetizer, OMG so chewy and probably frozen they no tentacles, just the rings , no spicy marinara sauce; they served it with the sauce you dip onion rings into. Please stick to potato skins and mozzarella sticks take calamari off your menu. As a matter of fact if you are not going to take the effort to make it yourself take all frozen items off cut back your menu and serve only really good "homemade" kick butt food. You will be packed. FYI there was a lady singing in bar area that night who was extremely loud, it was hard to talk to your dinner guest. it should be background music till 8 pm and then turn it up!! Oh well i will try other places till i find one that i can call my go to place. oh yeah and no bread was served with the Italian pasta. $68 is Bergen county prices , but the food is NY quality so i don't mind paying that, but in the country don't charge that for...
Read moreAlways something worth drinking on tap, worth eating on the menu and specials, and worth talking to in the wonderful staff. Variety is the name of the game at Panther Pub, located right on 517 just a minute away from Exit 19 on Rt. 80. The efficiency in the spectrum of choice is evident in the beer taps immediately; while not having an enormous amount of taps, they are used perfectly to represent the many preferences a beer enthusiast may enjoy. There aren't 10 IPAs, but there is always one or two great ones. There aren't 10 stouts, but there's always a good one. Light, heavy, dark... there's always something you'll want. The menu does a great job of not overwhelming people with page after page of too many items, but still dazzling a patron with great options. It's hard not to find something you really want on the one large page with the best of the best of appetizers, burgers, pastas, salads, etc., event tacos and flatbreads stand out! The seafood is always a treat, and the specials menu in general, like everything else, has superb variety. The entire experience encompasses a feeling of eclecticism with the rare genius touch of not feeling random. It's impossible not to fall in love with this wonderful gem, but if somehow you don't, it's a nice short drive back to the highway where you can get away from this beautiful treasure and never come near me or my...
Read moreJust had dinner there and will not be returning. Took over 20 minutes to be asked for a drink order and another 10 to get menus. Drinks arrived 15 minutes later and another 10 minutes went by before asked if ready to order. We were at point of leaving but friend here from NY and we were trying to celebrate a birthday so we tried to be patient as there is not much out that way to go to. . It was NOT busy, maybe 3 tables in dining area and some in bar. Food finally arrived the fish, of the fish & chips, was very greasy and burnt, had to remove coating to eat, slaw was good. Chicken pot pie was very dry and pastry greasy and dry. Could understand some of this if really busy, but it wasn't, asked for cocktail sauce and they bought me Marina. Told waitress about food but didn't seem to impress, though we should have realized when she told us that some customers say pot pie lacks chicken, guess should've listened. Seems we went to different place than the other reviews here. I've never posted a review before, but felt this really...
