Recent Update: Our family decided to give this place another try. No more. It was awful. The biryani was awful, greasy, and mainly rice. My husband picked up another dish too and it was so disappointing.
Please contact the old owners and get their recipes!
We are desperate to find the original owners/chef. We have been searching and driving out of the area in hopes of finding what this restaurant once offered!
When this place was in the hands of the original owners, we ordered food and shopped the grocery store at least 1 per week. After the name change, we ordered the "same" items several times but each time it was a huge disappointment. On top of that, the items were so greasy/oily and in terrible tasting oil that it would give me excruciating pain as my digestive system was rejecting the horrible oil. The items we normally have ordered regularly were: boneless chicken dum biryani, malabar chicken, okra, samosas, masala dosas with sambar. Our entire family was shocked when it was sold but we were hopeful that the food to go would taste the same but seeing the other reviews, it is obvious that the food flavor and quality has significantly gone down BY A LOT! WE WISH WE KNEW WHERE THE ORIGINAL CHEF WENT TO. We were told by the staff on couple occasions that the chef is the same but obviously that was not truthful. I see other reviewers wish to know where the original chef went as well because they too miss the delicious, and not so greasy menu items. The oils used since the new ownership are rancid and give indigestion. That's a big issue with the flavor of the food when ingredients are subpar. So, now we have to drive far away for decent Indian food or we make our own. So we also stopped coming for the grocery items too. You want better business, better reviews, please focus on making quality menu items and then people will order more and also buy the grocery items. It's just logical. The original owners sold you a very delicious business. We were always...
Read moreToday, I had a terrible experience at Coconut Hill Meat Shop. I waited for a staggering 3 hours just to purchase 3 pounds of mutton. The ordeal began as I patiently stood in line, waiting for my turn while many customers ahead of me were being served. Finally, when my turn came, I placed my order for 3 pounds of mutton. The butcher, who had been continuously cutting meat, requested a short break due to exhaustion, which I completely understood. I agreed to wait for a few more minutes.
However, after waiting for my meat to be prepared, just as the butcher was about to cut it, the owner suddenly came in with a new order. To my disbelief, the owner prioritized that new order over mine, instructing the butcher to fulfill it first. I was then asked to wait for an additional hour. At that point, I had already waited for 3 hours, and asking me to wait even longer felt extremely unfair. Frustrated, I decided to leave the shop without buying the mutton.
This was my first visit to Coconut Hill Meat Shop, and I had high hopes, but I left with nothing but disappointment. I felt that they were not following any proper process, like first-come, first-served. There seemed to be no rules or order in how they managed their customers. If you plan to buy mutton from this shop, be prepared to wait at least 4 hours, and even then, you might not get your order if you're unlucky.
I strongly recommend avoiding this shop, as they lack any semblance of proper customer service or organization. My experience was incredibly frustrating, and I wouldn't want anyone else to go...
Read moreFood taste is amazing, but not liking their wrong menu. Unlike regular restaurant menu changes everyday, which they post on WhatsApp group. Most times they don’t have the items they post in WhatsApp
I came for unlimited snacks(5items) with egg bonda, which they posted. It starts at 5, I went at 5.30 but they didn’t have egg bonda and papadam, they replaced egg bonda with kirai bonda and nothing for papadam, still the price was the same and they didn’t even inform us about less item and replaced item. Everyone who came to snack realized it after purchasing and started to eat, which is very wrong.
Went for onam sadya 23items, we only got 18. We didn’t get baby banana, rasam, banana chips and 2 payasam(they listed 4 payasam in menu but only have 2). On asking they said its owners mistake they posted wrong menu, and they reduced the price of the meal just for us who questioned them.
As it’s 30mins travel for us and as they don’t have a standard menu and menu they post are not reliable, we decided not go to coconut hill anymore, it would be great if management can fix...
