Island Bay Grill — Restaurant in Allentown

Island Bay Grill is a pretty unassuming little place from the outside but inside it’s very cute and fresh with staff that is really warm and welcoming. I didn’t eat inside on my visit because of being on my way somewhere and the whole COVID bit, but they have a nice area where you could eat in at one of the three counter seats by the window. Food is absolutely delicious and the portions are extremely generous. Pretty sure a small could make two, maybe three meals, depending on what your usual appetite is I guess (except those sweet plantains, those were GONE right away!). I got the goat curry small meal and it came with rice and beans, sweet plantains, veggies, and the goat. The meat was tender and the curry sauce was so flavorful. Rice and beans were very good (they put some of the curry sauce on it which was divine). Loved the cabbage veggies too! Hadn’t had veggies like this before and was amazed at how much great flavor was packed in there. I can’t wait until my next Allentown visit so I can go back and try another dish....

So My Co- Workers and I had a taste for some Jamaican/ Caribbean food, so we decided to give “ISLAND BAY GRILL” a try and I have to say it was the Best Jerk Chicken that, I’ve had since moving from Philly 3yrs ago to Lehigh Valley. It has been super challenging trying to find GOOD Jamaican food in this area. Nothing like Grilled Jerk . Their sauce was ok but the chicken itself was Good. The Cabbage looked good and was not bad either, the rice was just ok, the Mac& Chz needs some work, the plantain were good. The Service was good and the inside was nice and clean. I / We would go back again. So if you have a taste for Some Jamaican food give them a play, let me know what you think. Again it’s nothing like my Caribbean spots in Philly but it did hit the spot for lunch. Oh one of my Co- Worker’s had the Jerk Loaded fries, sorry I did not get a picture of that dish,they said it was ok as well

Jerk Chicken Rice & Beans Cabbage Mac &...

I ordered a full oxtail meal, I received a half.. not a full and it spilled all over the bag it was in. Literally all the food was out of the broken container and leaked all over the bag. After spending 25+ dollars. I called the restaurant and the lady said yes the container is weak and I told the delivery driver to be careful. Clearly if you knew, why didn’t it go into a better container. Or staple them shut so it doesn’t open. She didn’t want to send another meal nor send a driver or provide credit. None of that. Instead, I was charged $38.58 to be exact and here I am with no food because Im not eating out of a plastic “have a nice day” bag. No customer care at all and the restaurant still walks away with my money. How insane is that! Ive added a picture… how can you package food in this container.. by the way the container was sitting on top of all the food that spilled. Way to take care of your customers...
