Roots Restaurant is located in beautiful Downtown Almont on the southeast side of the Van Dyke & Almont Road intersection! They Got Dinner Covered! #roots #Restaurant #michigan #bbq #smalltown

A very bright spot in the small downtown of Almont. Service was great, but I was the only person there at 3:30 in the afternoon so I would anticipate nothing less. I tried the pulled chicken and brisket with roasted red skins and coleslaw. The chicken was outstanding, seasoned perfectly ( smoke and spices) and not dried out. The brisket was meh, I didn’t find it too tasty, but brisket is a tough one. It was juicy but lack a good smoke ring and distinct smokiness or spice. Memphis brisket has spoiled me. The sides were very good. Potatoes crisp and seasoned well and the slaw was crisp and not overwhelmed with dressing. I will try them again and revisit my rating.

Visited Roots multiple times and always a great meal and excellent service. Food made with quality ingredients and prices are very fair. The juicy Fancy Clucker chicken sandwich is the best around, and the bbq eggrolls never disappoint. Servers always super friendly and observant to see what you need, so you never have to ask and then sit and wait for water refills, etc. We appreciate the condiments and napkins/moist towelettes conveniently located on the table. Bathrooms are always clean, unlike a lot of other restaurants, and the large booths comfortably accommodate everyone. We drive a decent distance, and it's always worth it. Thank you, Roots!

This review is based off 6+ times trying this place..they're 2 blocks from me...Consistently for the 2 years I've lived in Almont this place is trash. I love finding great food spots. & This place is far from that, they lie about the menu items they have. Some descriptions are quite off from what they actually serve. Anytime we've ordered from there and asked for a item removed from the food for allergy reasons they always have the item still on the food when we receive it. Never fails! Buns are always soggy so I started getting them on the side. They've forgotten the bun! 😂 Foods cold tonight, ribs on top on a pile of fries (would have loved if they were crispy) but ya know wet ribs on top make them soggy. They seem to just lazy here and don't seem to care. Oh I almost forgot 2021 st.patricks day I go in with friends to have some of the drink specials. It's like 1pm... They don't have Malibu... They don't have this alcohol, they have some alcohol locked up? So like that was the excuse that they couldn't make our drinks 😂 like uhh you have a bar, it's st.patricks day and ur advertising you have this stuff.. didn't have 2 apps we wanted that day either so we walked out. Lastly some guy below starting he recommends the pretzel and cheese. I get that at any restaurant that has it. I've had to have tried a good 10 diff restaurants pretzels and cheese, and this is the worst pretzel and cheese I've ever had. The texture is dense as hell. 10 out of 10 do...

Nice place, good service, lousy food ! This is our third visit, the first two were pre-Covid and we were not impressed at all but after talking to some friends recently how Roots has gotten so much better we decided to give them a try again. I have to say, Much Worse than I remember. Brisket tasted okay, a bit heavy on smoke but very dry. The pulled pork was disgusting, very Smokey (and I like smoke) also very greasy. Meat is Not pulled but shredded fine, I believe they think they leave the shredded meat sit in its drippings but the drippings are all fat making it not only greasy but mushy too ! Tasted like a cheap pre packaged product from a grocery store and Not freshly made. Their sauces are nothing but ketchup with a pinch of other flavorings. There were four bottles on the table, ketchup, sweet, spicy and regular sauce and they all tasted like ketchup. For comparison I squeezed a dollop of each side by side and they all looked exactly the same. Their baked beans tasted identical to a can of Bush’s baked beans, nothing special at all. Prices are high, taste is low. This is Roots third strike for...

I'm not sure why it took us so long to check this place out. I suppose it's because we already had a favorite. But during the Covid madness a fellow employee suggested placing a pick up order and I ordered the pulled pork sandwich. It was awesome! I finally convinced my husband to go there with me.. instead of our favorite place and we haven't been back to that favorite place since. Roots is our new favorite now. We really enjoy the pulled pork nachos for an appetizer and sometimes meal. But my current favorite is the Fancy burger. It's dang fancy.. candied bacon with a mustard that I can't remember the name of but it's the best burger I've ever had. The homemade Mac n cheese is great too. There is a wheel chair ramp. There is a variety of seating... Booth, table and hightop. Then there is the pricing... My burger and fries or another side is $12. If I want to upgrade to Mac n cheese it's an extra $1. We currently have the 202O Raider card which this business so graciously advertised on so when we order two ontrays we get 1/2 off any appetizer (...
