I went here with high hopes given that it has the highest rating in Alpena. The atmosphere and the hospitality was nice and the food was affordable. But unfortunately the food was absolutely disgusting. I couldn't eat it and had to throw it away. I ordered the General Tsos chicken. After picking out and throwing away orange peels that I assume were for presentation, no clue why you'd use trash for presentation, I found out the chicken was mush. It was grey inside and fell apart by poking it with the fork and the onion slices were so big you had to take bites out of it or cut it up before eating.
We also ordered the crab Rangoon, these were edible, but you could get better at the frozen section at Meijer. Just cream cheese and crust.
My girlfriend ordered the chicken and broccoli. It appeared to have wood slivers in it? Again I assume for presentation, but we tried eating it and realized it wasn't edible. Chicken and broccoli both had to be cut up to eat. She ended up throwing hers away too.
Every restaurant has a bad day and it's possible the other reviews saying they are great are true. But I won't be returning to find out.
In conclusion, trash is meant for trash. Not plating. The food was not prepared properly but the people were nice. So it does have some redeeming qualities. On a last personal note, we aren't super well off so we don't waste food. I've never thrown away a meal or even left a bad review before. But after spending $20 on a meal that wasn't safe to eat I had to make sure...
Read moreOur clinic hadn't ordered from here in about a year, until today, and we are pretty disappointed. I ordered our pickup for 3 lunches, well 1 lunch and 2 Thai dishes which we were told can't be lunches, must be a dinner (which is $3 more than a lunch). But when I got to the restaurant to pick up our food, 1 of the Thai dishes we ordered was on the buffet, and for much cheaper than a "dinner", which also included soup! The "2" crab wontons ended up being rung up as 2 -orders- of crab wontons in which a couple didn't even have any filling, but ALL had no more than 1/4th teaspoon of filling. They also charge $3 extra for fried rice. When I asked why they said it started when eggs were hard to come by, but then they just kept that price because "its such a hassle". Food overall was disappointing. Anywho, $64 later for 3 people to eat lunch on a pick-up order and we ended up throwing...
Read moreFunny story! We don't live in the area but happened to be there for an appointment and my friend was looking for Chinese that also had Thai. But and neither one of ordered from the Thai selection! He ordered sizzling seafood with fried rice and I got the chicken/ mushrooms and peapods with steamed rice. We also ordered an egg roll for each of us and my friend asked for hot mustard with the order ....( this was a takeout order thankfully because I dipped my eggroll into their hot mustard and had to jump up and run around the room lol) Five stars for their hot mustard!!!! But we didn't get soup with the takeout order...disappointing....and my friend said he wished he could of gotten the spicy brown sauce with his seafood dish instead of the white sauce. . Is that even possible??? Guess we'll found out because next time we're in Alpena we will be ordering! Thank you for...
