Bayside Diner and Eatery — Restaurant in Alton

The family and I were really excited to try this place based on reviews. When we entered, it was instantly a nostalgic environment that reminded us of an old diner we loved to go to. Unfortunately, that's the good part of this review. We waited at the door for 5 minutes before we finally decided to seat ourselves due to any staff or singage that was around. Finally a waitress dropped off menu's saying she'd be right back to get our drinks. Meanwhile, two more parties showed up, and a gentleman sat at the bar. The waitress was quick to not only get drinks for these other parties, but to take their orders. Meanwhile, we've been here 15 minutes and don't even have a cup of coffee that we haven't even been offered. We finally decided to leave and go somewhere else, and that's when we were finally asked if someone could help us. We pointed out our issues, and the same waitress tried to lie to us stating she had been in the back the whole time. Apparently unless your a regular here, they don't care to be polite or service you in a timely manner, and will in fact ignore and skip over you to take care of their favorites. We wanted to love the place, but they're customer service was rude and dishonest. Dine there at your own risk of being ignored...

I have had good takeout from there before that other people have ordered. Today, my breakfast from home dumped in my back seat, so I took orders from my office and tried to call in. Small eclectic old style diner.Counter seats are vinyl topped.Brings back memories . Food portions are plentiful and price point is very reasonable. Service was on point and servers were pleasant and engaging. In summer expect to wait but you won't be disappointed .
