This place is a great hidden gem in Alton. It is off the beaten path for me but I wanted a Flat White that didn't involve driving 20 or 30 miles. The coffee shop is housed in an old school. The location is not easy to spot from the street, so be sure to slow down and pay attention or you will pass it. The parking lot is gravel so I suggest parking on the street if you have a fresh car wash. The inside is decorated warm and inviting. What is obviously an old classroom or school office has been transformed into a cozy coffee house with a lot of local flavor. The prices are fair and actually on the lower side of what you expect to pay for coffee. The quality of the coffee is excellent and my flat white has been perfect on multiple occasions which is rare from any coffee house. A wide variety of pastries and baked goods are available and change daily. Quiche, muffins, cakes, cookies and more all at reasonable prices and extremely high quality. Definately worth the visit!

My friend and I were visiting the area for two days and we went here both days. She got a matcha drink one day, and an iced coffee the second, and both were great. I got an iced mocha and and empanada. Both were worthy to mention in this review. Delicious. We also tried the chocolate chip banana bread and the blueberry coffee cake. They weren't too sweet and tasted freshly baked. Let's not forget to mention how adorable the decor is, and how the friendliest, welcoming, people worked here- it's refreshing to walk into a café with such a high standard of quality and be greeted by humble and friendly people. One thousand percent recommend this place. Check out their bulletin board for fun stuff to do locally.

Had a craving while out in Alton. Google coffee near me, and Maeva's popped up. Super chill and eclectic place. Awesome selection of baked offerings. Hubby got a latte. I got the Mud Mocha Iced. Wanted to try something new, and this thing had charcoal in it. Love, love, love this cold coffee. Absolutely delicious. Staff was super friendly, chatting with us as they made our drinks. We always like hitting the small local coffee shops over chains. If in Alton, be sure to stop here. Entrance is on the side of the old school house. Enter the doors unde the neon, up the stairs, first door to the right.

The coffee, service and atmosphere are unrivaled at Maeva’s. I visit often. When I see a 1 star review not for the service or quality of the product but because a customer is trying to silence people who do NOT think like them I am going to speak up. Charlie Kirk died. He died because of a politically charged violent atmosphere he helped to create and foster daily through his divisive rhetoric. I will not whitewash the dead. He did not practice politics in the right way. He boasted on fomenting the J6 insurrection, he called for televised executions, he practiced McCarthyism on campuses and used vile speech. We can speak against political violence without twisting ourselves to defend people, like Kirk, who actually championed it. This man said that empathy was a weakness and that death was an acceptable outcome in the name of protecting 2A.

Giving bad reviews because you heard something you don't like is absolutely inane and contrived. Trying to hurt a business or someone's livelihood is a bad faith act made by a small minded person who is performatively clutching their pearls. It should be ignored.

Get you some great coffee served by fabulous people who are hard working. People who deserve to be lifted up and to not have their speech policed by...

My dog and I have visited Maevas on various occasions.. always told before that we could sit out in the hallway and be a customer. Today a rather busy Sunday we walk in to a full room.. a guy, employee (Sam) is fidgeting with a guitar as we come in the door... he yells then across the full room, is that a service dog? I am then asked in front of the room ... do we have papers... ?? Kinda outing me to resolve in front of everyone that I live with a disability. I'm not sure why he felt the need to restrict us as clients. . He continued to play his guitar. After the interaction I asked he barista fir his name... At that time Sam got up from playing the guitar and came a bit too close to me to gaurd off my inquiry. Very defensively.. I buy a beer.. an iced tea.. and we are sitting out in the hallway as planned.. Sam should might ask a person such a question if that should even be a requirement. I have paperwork on me.. but would hesitate announcing it to an unfamiliar room crowd.

Thanks for understanding.. this guy is playing boss while acting the...
