The volunteer tour guide was very knowledgeable. It is amazing how many different things are packed into the small building, which used to be a house. I just stopped there by chance one late afternoon and spent 1 1/2 hrs there. There is so much more to learn about Alton Illinois that I did not realize. I found it very interesting and I'm planning on going back again. The artifacts varied from architecture, to cival war prisoners, to early Alton characters, and of course the Mississippi's influence.
