I’ve only ever been to the Pizza Ranch in Ankeny and decided to try the one in Altoona. Extremely disappointed. The minute we walked in there were dirty tables every where and the cashier had to serve us. 15 dollars per person was absolutely ridiculous for the food the served. The featured food item wasn’t even in the buffet, and there was close to nothing to actually choose to eat. Imagine paying that much money for a slice of dessert and ice cream (the only enjoyable food there). There was hardly any choice as far as pizza. When you ask for a specialty pizza, they only let you have a fee slices per person at the table and then put the rest of the pizza on the buffet. Where the hell do you go to a restaurant featuring pizza where they dont serve basics like pepperoni, cheese, and sausage pizza unless you specifically ask for it??? And when we got there, all the dessert trays were empty. After an half hour of being there they were finally filled again, but seeing as they were the only edible thing there, everyone in the restaurant took their share and there was, once again, no dessert. Later on I went into the women's bathroom and was surprised at how dirty it was. There was pee on one of the toilet seats, and the floor was INCREDIBLY slippery. There was no “wet floor” sign put up. The experience over all was extremely irritating. Not to mention the fact that in 93 degree weather there was hardly any AC! Do not eat here! Extremely expensive for an obviously very...

Read moreSome of the best fried chicken in town, and more chicken is brought out frequently to fill up the pan. There's also potatoes, gravy, a vegetable and fries. Some of the items like the fries, are a little salty for my taste. The pizzas are excellent, and they ask customers if there is any pizza they would like to have so I ordered their TACO PIZZA which was DELICIOUS. They brought a right-out-of-oven hot Taco pizza. I gobbled down two pieces. The TACO pizza is covered with retried beans, chips, lettuce, etc. There's plenty of other types of pizza already out which are all exceptionally good. The dessert pizzas are usually cherry, blueberry, apple and peach. Not all flavors are available at the same time, but they keep bringing out more pieces, and they all DELICIOUS. The salad bar has varied items including fruit and pudding. The green salad items are good but not the best available around. The salad bar needs to be monitored more to keep foods from being dropped into other items. The salad bar could do with improvement. Pizza Ranch runs frequent fundraisers for numerous organizations. The groups involved in the fundraiser help out at the restaurant, and they have a collection jar for donations too. Family atmosphere and...
