After reading some of the favorable reviews online we finally decided to stop in after church. I can honestly say that was a huge mistake and a waste of our time. Initially we got seated, the waitress was friendly and took our orders in a timely manner. Little did we know that would be the high point of our experience and would go downhill from there? Our group of four waited patiently for 45 minutes for our simple breakfast orders (2 eggs, toast and potatoes), we talked to the waitress about the delay and told her that we were considering leaving. At that point the waitress told us our order was being plated as she spoke and would be out shortly. After waiting approximately another 15 minutes we still did not receive our order and decided to pay for our coffee and left. It must be noted that a couple of ladies across from us said that they had been waiting for over an hour for their lunch (Hamburger’s) and they finally left without receiving their order as well. I do not know what the issue was going on in the kitchen, but it should never take over an hour to serve simple meals as eggs and burgers. The restaurant was not very busy at the time, I counted 9 people at 4 other tables not including the bar. The bottom line is that DUSS Ave Café may have some very good food, however after sitting there for over an hour, I have no idea if the food is any good at all. I strongly believe in supporting local businesses and restaurants’ but I am very reluctant to give them...
Read moreI've been to this restaurant a couple times and each time they had the same issues. It takes 15-20 minutes to get your drinks but the place is completely empty. Then when you want to order your food it takes at least another 20 minutes to find our waitress to order. When our food came out everything was ice cold. From our soup to our hot cauliflower to our chicken. The fresh cut fries were soggy and greasy. And we asked for double seasoning on our chicken and it came out plain. I had to walk to the front where our waitress and another girl was standing around chatting to ask for extra sauce because she didn't come back to check on us. And as for cleanliness we were there for 2 hours and nobody came to clean the table next to us full of garbage that was there before we got there. Needless to say I will not be going back for food that I can get better...
Read moreThought we'd give this place a shot.
We ordered two four piece chicken dinners. The chicken was flavorful and juicy. The coleslaw is to die for. The cornbread muffin was a sweet treat at the end. The potato wedges are made from real potato and aren't a frozen product.
In fact, everything there seems to be homemade. It was so delicious that we decided to order from there again the next day so we could try more of their food! We ordered wings, cheese sticks, chicken tenders (which again, weren't a frozen product) and some cheese fries. The fries were fresh cut.
The other thing we love about this place is the price. I sincerely hope they aren't going to go out of business because they aren't charging enough for their amazing product. That said, I hope they stay open for a long time to...
