I’m from out of state. Where I’m from, scoops are these pitiful half scoops.
So when I came here and saw the ‘small’ size was 4 scoops, I assumed the same must be true here and ordered that.
H O L Y C R A P was that a lot of ice cream!! I ordered bubble gum (first time in a long time since I had bubble btw so already a huge plus!!) and damn, they showed me the cup and I assumed, while it was big, it was just to the cup line. NOPE there was a scoop on top!
Seriously, I may have paid for more than I would have ate, but it was still an awesome surprise, and a great way to end the night :)
If we ever come back through here, definitely would stop again. Read moreHodgie’s Ice Cream at 71 Haverhill Rd in Amesbury, MA has been a family staple forever. Careful when you go to order by the number of scoops! They have HUGE servings!
I love their wide selection of tasty treats and other menu items too.
The flavor of the ice cream is very good, and the fudge and cream too, but to me it is grainy, not smooth and creamy. I wonder if it had been thawed and refrozen too many times? Not sure, but it’s definitely grainy compared to other places. It doesn’t stop me from going, but it keeps me from giving it a top score.
The hubs liked his coconut chip. You can tell by the consistent line out front that people love Hodgie’s! There is also seating out back to the left, under the trees.
Important to know, there are no public bathrooms there,...
Read moreI enjoy coming here because they have great ice cream and many flavors to choose from. They also serve food as well as ice cream. It is a nice place to take the kids and I feel that the prices are very reasonable. Parking is a bit tricky at times due to the fact that they are very busy but it is worth the wait! You can sit and eat your food/ice cream on picnic tables located next to the store. It is a very nice area and is in the shade so it is nice on a hot day. The staff is nice and usually consists of high school and/or college students. I recommend trying it if you are in the...
