I will say their sesame beef was absolutely delicious and totally worth trying if you choose to go there.
I have to give this restaurant a poor review however because of the apparent mistreatment of waitstaff and the poor management. We were in an hour and a half before closing and the waiter was short with us rude and acted like we had walked in 5 minutes before closing time. He did not ask us if we wanted anything to drink and we had to wave him down to request our drinks despite being the only table in his section.
The food was fairly quick to come out which was a plus. When we got the teriyaki beef the gravy that was covering it looked congealed, did not taste anything like teriyaki and the texture of the meat was spongy and gross. Naturally, as it was not to either of our liking we asked to send it back.
The waiter refused, and then told us if he sent it back it was coming out of his paycheck. After a moment speaking with him we decided not to send it back after all because neither of us wanted 2 take away from this guy's paycheck especially after he said that he completely relied on tips alone. He at this point seems to change his mind and went to get the manager to speak with us and told us that the manager could take it back without affecting his paycheck.
The manager then initially refused to take it back, replace it with anything, or do anything to help us without taking it out of the waiter's check.
This is the first time I've ever eaten anywhere where I've been openly shamed for asking to send back a dish. I have always felt a little bit bad when I send back a dish, but I don't have a lot of money and when I go out to spend it eating I want to get a dish that actually taste good and is something like what the menu described.
I've worked in food service and there is ALWAYS waste. To act as though we were literally stealing money is bad customer service at best and at worst indicates a kitchen that cuts all kinds of corners to save money.
Eventually, several minutes into eating, after we had decided that we had to just absorb the cost of this food that we weren't going to touch, the waiter came over and in a way better mood said that the manager had taken it off for us. We thanked the waiter then and from there on out his service that night was much better.
Of course we left a good tip because neither of us wanted him going home having something cut out of this paycheck, which at this point we were pretty sure it was going to happen whether he would tell us or not.
The waiter was extremely nice to us for the rest of our service and had this not happened I think we definitely go back again. However, I don't feel like I can support a business that cheats its waiters out of money because something went wrong in...

When we dine at an Asia Restaruant we order items we especially like and have been prepared excellently.
So this evening we ordered the following dishes: Singapore Rice Street Noodles, Crispy Jumbo Shrimp with Walnuts, Eggplant in Garlic sauce, and upon the owner's suggestion the Sate Chicken with Mixed Vegetables hot pot, a specialty of the chief.
While we waited for our order to arrive a place of Spanish style peanuts was placed on our table.
The first entree to arrive was the Crispy Jumbo Shrimp with Walnuts. They were 9 jumbo, 6-10 count size, prepared with a crispy coating and then tossed in a sweet cream sauce before plating on a plate of shredded lettuce followed by the walnuts baked with a sweet light sec coating. The were delicious.
The hot pot arrived next . . . and it was very hot, we waited 10-minutes for it to cool. This entree offering was thinly sliced chicken with a varied of vegetables in a tasty light sauce. It too was delicious and again a very large serving.
Next up was the Eggplant with Garlic Sauce. This version came with some diced red bell pepper and green squash for color.
Last to arrive was their Singapore Rice Street Noodle with shrimp and pork. Here flavor is very important and the chief delivered. It was as good as we have ever enjoyed.
What else can we share?
Service was very attentive by the servers and owner.
While dining there were three large parties of Asian Americans enjoying each other's company and the great food being served by Rice Pot.
Highly recommended.

Read moreIt may be in the middle of practically nowhere with only a gas station as its companion, but Rice Pot Asian Cuisine serves great Chinese food. I was a bit skeptical when I heard that this standalone restaurant on Backlick earned 4 stars with over 200 reviews but after trying Rice Pot, I can definitely attest to their delicious food.
We ordered the chicken and tofu clay pot with salted fish ($13.95), congee with pork and century egg ($6.95), and Chinese yu choy with garlic sauce ($12.95). Congee with pork and century egg takes me back to my childhood, as it is a very popular and traditional Chinese breakfast. It's definitely enough for two people, maybe even three. The chicken and tofu clay pot with salted fish was very good as well and again, enough to fill up two people easily. I would definitely recommend trying one of the clay pots.
Service was prompt and very attentive. Staff was always on hand to answer questions, field requests, and chat politely. The parking lot is a bit tight, but there are spots in the back. While the space may not be the most modern, it's clean, bright, and pretty spacious. There's even a bar with TVs.
Excellent food, great service, and...
