I’m not sure it’s possible to fully enumerate all the wonderful elements of Leeward Market.
This location is such a hub for community. Every time I come in, Michelle or Jeannie is having a deep, meaningful conversation with a regular (while taking orders and keeping the line moving, to boot). The place is teeming with local presence—there are books by local authors and pastries by local bakers all on display; it feels like a real salmagundi of Eastport. And I myself have been the beneficiary of Leeward Market’s support of local businesses; Michelle kindly allows me to keep cards for my pet care business near the dog treat station.
I’ve never felt rushed or unwelcome here, even though it can get quite hectic during morning and lunch rushes. And the food is always plated thoughtfully and thoroughly scrumptious! My favorites are the spinach salad and house bagel chips. 😋

If the place was closed and everyone had left, I wouldn't have a problem with it, but to turn away a customer with cash in hand doesn't make sense to me.
