If I could give 100 stars I would! My 9 year old Son Liam who is high functioning autistic (the crew was not told this) has wanted to do a Pirate Adventure since he was 5 but we were afraid of a melt down or outbursts while out on the water ruining the experience for others. Liam has been doing so well this year that we decided to give it a try today and it was AMAZING! We live in Middletown, Delaware but chose Pirate Adventures because it was a third of the price of other pirate experiences located in Wilmington, Lewes and Ocean City, MD. I was not disappointed and we had no issues. EVERYTHING was perfect from the minute we arrived this crew dressed in full pirate attire warmly welcomed us and never broke character! We had the pleasure of sailing with Ruby & I believe Rusty? and Meck? who could not have been more entertaining, engaging and hilarious! This crew put so much time, patience, passion, personality and energy into their performance that even the adults had a blast! There is sooo much prep that goes into this adventure and you can tell this crew loves kids and people and enjoy being pirates! Liam was the oldest on the ship today and I feared that maybe he would be too old to enjoy it but everyone on this crew did a great job including him and making sure EVERY kid had fun. I plan on going back in the future with my grandson who will be 3 soon. I would say 4-8 years old is the best age range for this adventure but honestly my husband and myself enjoyed it as much as the kids, I even got teary eyed watching Liam shoot the water cannons because it was sooo great to see him smiling, laughing and participating (these are rare for him). I cannot say enough about this experience! I did read some reviews from two years ago that shocked me because I can tell you our crew, our experience and the price could not be beat! Thank you Ruby and crew for making a child's dream come true and giving a tired ASD Mom lots of reasons to smile and have hope! Keep doing it just like today...
Read moreIf I could give it ZERO stars I would. We had driven over an hour and were going to be late because my son woke up with pain in his foot that needed to be addressed. Emily was extremely rude, sarcastic, inflexible, and honestly showed me the ugliest customer service I have ever experienced with a CHILDREN’s program. We were driving from two hours away, and she had absolutely no remorse, made no exception to their “cancellation policy”, told me I needed to get there by 9:30 or else no refund. We had been willing to reschedule but apparently there was no exception at all. She was curt and nasty. She happily took our $108 dollars, crushed our children’s spirits, and she was ruder than ever. Anyone with kids understands that when you are traveling unexpected circumstances happen. And we should have been able to reschedule. No one has that rigid of a policy, and good businesses make exceptions. I plan to take this further. I have heard mixed reviews about this pirate adventure anyway. Beware of the terrible customer service and rude owners, who will take your money and talk to you with a horrible attitude without a second thought. Robbery.
**UPDATE: Emily, my husband just called and spoke to Mike who said you not only have availability for 4 people this evening, but you have “plenty of room” on the 5:00pm tour today. You lied to me this morning and said you were completely sold out for the day and someone purchased the remaining tickets last night. Do NOT say you did everything you could to accommodate us. That is a boldface lie. You deceived us by lying so you did not have to give us an opportunity to bring our children to the Pirate tour at a later time, in order to keep our money and THAT, I’m sure you are aware, is fraud. Shame on you for lying and then making it appear that I was the one in the wrong. You were able to accommodate us for the same date and you chose to lie about it. I hope everyone reads this review and sees the truth about the way you run...
Read moreOur family went on the Pirate Adventures earlier this year and tried for a second time. The first time was for a birthday party and we'd always heard how hands-on the staff was. Unfortunately this couldn't have been further from the truth. The staff seemed uninterested and like they didn't want to be out there at all. No energy and just going through the motions. The kids could tell and therefore didn't have as much fun as they were hoping.
We bought a voucher in the spring before our first trip for the birthday party. After the first trip we never would have given them a second chance but since we already paid for the voucher we figured we would give it another try. I called Pirate Adventures and spoke to Emily who helped book this trip. A couple of days after we had a family emergency come up which was at the same day and time as the trip we booked. I called Pirate Adventures and Emily answered again but she would not allow us to change our date or time unless we upgraded to the full price package instead of the voucher we had already purchased. When I voiced my displeasure she talked over me without stopping to which I eventually had to hang up. Needless to say we will not be going on this trip nor giving any business to this company in the future. While we understand many people have had positive interactions with this company, we felt it was important to share this unfortunate poor customer service.
Follow-up: The fact that you said "language and threatening behavior" was used speaks volumes for you and your business. It is completely unacceptable to state false accusations to better...
