Friday afternoon. I bought bbq sandwiches and half lb chopped chicken on McClellan. Meat was very dry and ineatible. Too expensive to have to throw in trash and bonus no lunch or dinner after all. Fed chicken to dog. Haven't visited Dad's since last year. Thought maybe it had changed since this place competes in annual bbq competitions & caters for that matter. That's the last time I waste hard earned money there. I deserve better. I also knew better than to complain after the large bone in my sandwich last time & mgmt pretty much told me I was lying... their meat doesn't have bones. I even showed her the pic. She told me she doesn't give food away & if I didn't want to buy another sandwich i should leave...and she walked away. Large woman, dark hair, lots of fake jewelry and nasty attitude. Imagine the exclamation point above my head! I was nice about it but she was very rude. Out of pocket for lunch and gas money to drive back. Folks, always check your bag before you walk away because they won't believe you or make it right. Do rib count for sure and check for sauces. No telling how long the meat is reheated & served to customers everyday. It's a shame they will take your money and not care if the food is edible or partly missing. So many other places that do care down the road from now on. I get it there is just so much meat smoked in a day but it was no where near closing. And if it means serving dried up food to customers...go ahead and close the restaurant until eatibe food can be served again. Esp under poor mgmt.
Should be on them to serve the customer. I'm sure the way they serve THEIR family or friends is not with the inedible food or hateful mgmt. Dad's bbq cant even compare to Jim-n-niks. It's shame on...
Read moreHaving been in twice now with my brother, I now feel I can leave a proper review. Having been in the service industry as a chef for a big chunk of my adult life, the two things I look At the most is consistency and the people. Both times I have eaten there I have tried different things but have seen a definite consistency on the quality of the food. Yes, the first time I went in the ribs were a little over cooked, but the hickory smoke was there, and that is what bbq is about. Without the smoke, you don’t have bbq (like the competition down the road that thinks bbq sauce on slow cooked beef or pork makes it bbq….NOPE!)
Anyway, the food is excellent and the people are awesome in my opinion. If you don’t have good people, you don’t have a restaurant. I always sought out the best people I could hire for my kitchens and front of the house. Without a doubt, if I were opening a new restaurant in the area (I’m retired, don’t worry), I would do everything in my power to poach Misty from Dad’s. She is a lovely woman with a heart of gold (trust me, you can see it) that goes above and beyond to give more than just basic service with a smile. Misty, you are awesome.
So….I will be back, for the food and...
Read moreThe lady who answered the phone was very nice, but apparently got my order wrong. I placed this order for a guest at my workplace who stated they thought they could tolerate the glazed wings better than mild or hot wings. Sure, I’ll be glad to order this for you if that’s what you think you’d want. Anyways, get to the window, the guy kinda goes “whew” because my brakes squealed a bit (just bought a used car, not his business.) Pull away from the window and my order is wrong, they’ve got mild or hot wings instead of glazed. I pull back up to the window, same reaction to my brakes. I tell him they thought they’d tolerate glazed better and he said that didn’t make sense. “Their decision not mine” is all I had to say. Perhaps getting my order right in the first place could’ve avoided this conversation entirely. While I sat at the window the first time I heard a worker asking him if he had already cashed me out, some mumbling, and then “hell yeah” so I’m not sure if they intentionally gave me the incorrect wings. Either way, tactless and poor business and regret referring these guests to this restaurant. It has left my list of recommended restaurants in the area. This occurred around 7:00...
