Typically, my husband and I visit Angels every Saturday morning. This week, we ended up going on a Sunday (today) and I'm not sure if that contributed to what happened.
Anyway, we walked in and were the very first people there. We were greeted within one minute and seated at a booth by a waitress whom I know to be very friendly and accomodating. We laughed about how the snow waited til ALMOST Christmas to show up. We got our drinks and placed the food order, then we waited.
A little while later, a group came in and seated themselves RIGHT BEHIND US in an empty restaurant which I found to be very rude for a few reasons. When the waitress came out to greet them, they started barking orders at her in a really condescending way: "Thanks, hun..." "Get me a pitcher a of water, love..." Stuff like that. And the guy in the group asked for his usual, then got crabby when she said she doesn't know what his usual is.
After all the food and drinks were ordered for their party, she told them the cheese curds and something else were free, she wasn't charging them for it. I was LIVID. They literally just walked in, nothing happened to warrant them getting food taken off their bill, and then they started chatting like they know each other. While they were waiting, they kept looking up stupid videos on their phones and the volume was cranked. Plus, they couldn't stop swearing if their lives depended on it.
After this group came in, our waitress totally ignored us except to bring boxes for our leftovers. She even told us at 7:12 AM (I know the time because I needed to get to work by 8) that she'd bring our bill, but 15 minutes later, we still didn't have it. We finally just went to the register and told another waitress, so she looked up our tab.
I'm angry that one table of patrons was so blatantly rude and the waitress contributed to it. I'm hurt that we always treat her and the other staff with respect but it was not reciprocated today. I'm sad because I had a high opinion of her until this point and don't feel that we were valued like these other customers. I'm sorry that I don't know the names of the staff everywhere I go, but I DO make an effort to engage in conversation and I don't yell, insult, or even report it when something minor happens. This time, however, I am because it's so far outside my usual experience.
In other news, my meat eater's omelet was delicious as always and I saved the other half for lunch! The American Fries left something to be desired, so...
Read moreHeard good things about this place and since we were in the area we stopped. Walked in before 5 pm to a empty restaurant. We were seated and ordered 2 coffees and 1 lemonade for my son. The coffee was mediocre with an off after taste. I ordered a cheeseburger cooked rare and a broccoli cheese soup. The soup arrived quickly and was barely warm. The soup tasted like it came from Kwik trip. It was very disgusting. Then the moment of truth arrived. I expected good things from this burger. Bite 1 I was greeted with a very odd taste. I decided to add the pickles and some ketchup thinking it would help. Bite 2 I expected to see very red meat. I didn't and was getting concerned. Bite 3 I had to dump salt, pepper, and ketchup on it to try and choke it down. It didn't help. Bite 4 that was it. I couldn't do it any longer. The meat was gray. Not red or pink but gray. Menu stated sirloin. It was not. Whatever this thing was made from it was inedible. My stomach started flip flopping and I had to run to the bathroom where I promptly threw up missing the toilet and garbage can. The food was highly disgusting and normally I'd give a place 2 tries to do good but there's no way I could go back. First time there and last time there. I'll never return here. At the time of writing this my stomach is still queasy. I would not recommend this place if they were giving away free food. I should've asked for a refund since the food never left the restaurant and ended up in...
