Have been eating here for more than 40 years and I have never had a bad experience until this evening. I placed a pick up order over the phone at 7:43pm and was told it would be ready in 15 minutes. It started raining pretty hard, just after I hung up the phone, and I ride a bike, so I called a couple of people and asked for a ride, but no one was available so I called a taxi. I arrived at El Charro at 8:10pm, expecting my food to be ready and waiting. I stood in line for 23 minutes waiting to pay for, and received my order. To my disappointment, there was no food on the to go shelf. After I paid and spoke to the cashier, I watched her walk over to another counter and pick up a ticket and without saying a word, she hung it up for the cooks. So exactly 50 minutes after I placed my order, my ticket made it to the table. I ordered 3 items from the menu and added extra cheese to all 3, other than that, my food order was just the way it is listed on the menu. I waited and watched as my ticket was passed over by 3 different employees. At 8:43, two of my three items were placed on the counter and the last item was done at 8:50. The cashier apologized and I exited the restaurant. So it took 1 hour and 7 minutes for my food to be prepared, from the time I placed my order, until I received it. I spent $29.01 on my food order and the taxi ride, there and back cost me $16 + another $4 rip for the driver, because I felt horrible that he waited 40 minutes in the parking lot, while my order was being overlooked and then finally prepared. So, $49.01 later, I sat down to eat my soggy nachos which consisted of more lettuce than anything, and did not contain the extra cheese that I had asked for, a long with my rice with extremely overpriced cheese dip that was served on the side and had begun to thicken because it was cold. Displeased does not even come close to explaining how I feel right now. I understand they were very busy, I just don't think they understood that while they were doing their jobs, very poorly, yet still getting paid to do it, I, the paying customer was not receiving the quality service, nor the quality of food that ended up costing me almost $50. Everyone got exactly what was due to them, except for the customer that paid for it all. Will I return to El Charro?more than likely, yes, but it won't be anytime soon, I can assure you. I appreciate the apology from the cashier who was totally at fault for my order taking an hour and seven minutes to make it into my hands, but I don't feel an apology covered my expense. What happened to customer service? I guess they just don't care if that one customer, out of the probably 300 that they served today, was satisfied with the service and the food that they received. Mind over matter... They did t mind and I didn't matter. Thanks El Charro, for a pathetic dining experience. Also, I'd like to praise Randy's taxi, and their driver, Esteban, for being everything they should've...

El Charo Authentic Mexican Restaurant delivers an outstanding culinary experience rooted in genuine, traditional Mexican cooking. The food is absolutely amazing—rich in flavor, expertly prepared, and unmistakably authentic. With a staff that is 100% Latino, the atmosphere and flavors stay true to their cultural origins. While several team members speak English well, the widespread use of Spanish only adds to the immersive, vibrant ambiance.
I ordered the vegetarian fajitas, and they were nothing short of phenomenal. The portion was generous—easily enough for two—and every bite was packed with fresh, expertly seasoned vegetables. It’s worth noting that the homemade teas and drinks come in large glasses, but refills aren’t free—something to be aware of, though the serving size more than makes up for it.
The only minor critique is the atmosphere, which might feel a bit rustic to some American diners unfamiliar with culturally immersive settings. The decor and layout reflect a heavy Latino influence, which might come off as modest or unconventional. That said, it’s part of the charm and authenticity that makes El Charo stand out.
Overall, El Charo is a must-visit for anyone craving sumptuous, real-deal Mexican cuisine. Highly recommended for both the food and...
