This place is across from the hotel we were staying at and recommended by hotel so we tried it for dinner. It's a seat yourself and wait kind of place. We found menus and a clean table. The waitress was pretty prompt to get our drink orders and bring our drinks. It's all burgers and sandwiches and fried grease. I picked roast beef with vegetables, a side salad and decline the potatoes but offer them to my dining partner. Salad arrives shortly and it has a nice array of veggies on the lettuce and delicious homemade ranch. Win. 40 minutes later our food arrives. The waitress hasn't checked on us once. She puts my plate down and everything is covered in gravy and there's no vegetables. I ask about the vegetables and she tells me they're out of vegetables that's why I got a salad. Do you think that when I order meat and vegetables maybe you should have told me there were no vegetables? I go back and grab a menu. There it is on the menu listed as slow roasted beef with seasonal vegetables. All dinners come with choice of soup or salad, potatoes and a roll. No where does it mention that everything comes covered in gravy. Nope. Didn't read that wrong. I look for the waitress. My partner eats his entire meal, no waitress. I listen to 2 other customers complain and leave, no waitress. My food is sitting completely untouched in front of me. No waitress. When your food shows up wrong and the waitress argues with you and then never comes back to check on you the only thing you do is get more irritated. Finally a waitress. I explain the problem. She argues with me some more. I explain there's no way I'm eating that and please take it off my bill. She disappears. We wait. No bill arrives. I watch her serve another table. We go to the front to pay the bill, the lady there is trying to help me but had to find the waitress. The waitress comps the entire check. I was really surprised. That was the only reason this place got 2 stars. The lady behind the counter asks what happened but by this point in time I'm done being argued with. I'm hungry. I'm angry. I'm just ready to leave. She can go ask the waitress. I drop money on the counter for a tip ( only because she comped the meal and I waitressed once) and start to walk out. Who's ever teenager was there decides she needs to comment on a situation she was not involved in. It was a completely unnecessary and unwelcome addition to the whole debacle and added unnecessary fuel to an already raging fire. I recommend the deli around the corner on the main street of town which is where I then went...
Read moreI hate leaving bad reviews, especially because the service was wonderful, but I feel like I owe it to the general public, so they know what to expect should they decide to dine here. (I was surprised that this restaurant had such decent reviews, and after reading some of them, I’m not sure why people give them five stars, at the same time complaining that the mashed potatoes were burnt?) The food was probably some of the worst I’ve ever had at a restaurant. I feel bad saying it, but it is true. My husband and I stopped in with another couple after a big hike up Leatherman Peak, so we were very hungry. (usually food tastes better when you are starving.) But I still had trouble eating any of it. I wish I had taken pictures. The cheese curds were overcooked, hard, and the breading tasted awful. The menu boasted, “chargrilled Angus beef”, but my patty was burnt, tiny, and looked like the frozen patties that you would pick up from Walmart. The grilled onions were a little slimy, and the mushrooms were canned, and didn’t look like they had been grilled at all. My tater tots were a funny color that didn’t look right. They tasted old and like they weren’t fried enough. I ate a few, sprinkled some seasoning on, and my next tater tot tasted strongly of penicillin. I am not sure if it was the tater tot or the seasoning—I couldn’t eat anymore after that. The worst part was the mayo and fry sauce. There’s no way that was real mayo. It was foamy and warm and tasted nothing like mayo. My “caramel“ milkshake didn’t have enough syrup in it because it tasted like vanilla. It actually caused some confusion amongst us, because the others who ordered raspberry milkshakes thought there’s tasted like vanilla too, and that they had gotten mixed up. The other three in our group had similar experiences with their food. One of my friends is gluten intolerant, and she asked about their preparation methods. The waitress did not seem confident in her answer, and after my friend ordered a salad and a meat patty with no bun, she became violently ill. The best part of the meal was my fountain drink. Again, I feel bad saying this because the waitress was super nice, and I’m sure it’s a cute little family that has started up this place. But if owning a restaurant is your passion, I feel like you could do a little better with the quality of the food. Definitely DO...
Read moreThe place went from four stars to two stars because the last time I had a breakfast there it was absolutely awful. Looked like the cook was straight out of high school possibly using his leftover cheese from his lunch on my omelette I think a piece of American cheese was cut into three slices and put over the top of what was supposed to be a Spanish omelette it was horrible thin egg with a mixture put right in the middle it was like Tostitos and tomato and chopped onion mixed together in the middle of a thin not fully cooked three egg alleged omelette. It came with hash browns and I got chopped up hash mush not crispy but mushy and not shredded but little soggy pieces equivalent to baby food and seriously couldn't get the toast right either? I ordered sourdough I got white it wasn't really toasted and very dry like I guess butter was not available to the Cook or something whoever made my toast just gave me basically glorified bread with a dab of margarine and I ended up getting grape jelly and I specifically said don't give me grape jelly the coffee was okay though but not worth the $17 I paid after the tip don't waste your money it was literally the second worst breakfast I had Nationwide in my lifetime. First runner-up went to the Greyhound bus stop in New Mexico some 25 years ago or longer it was the worst but this place was the second worst congratulations and thanks for charging me so much for breakfast I could not stomach to finish on a good note the owner is a really friendly guy and the staff was friendly I suggest replacing your cook with someone who could and can actually cook...
