Licks Ice Cream is the ultimate ice creamery and it's hiding in Catalina. Seriously some of the best freshly churned or artisan ice cream I have ever had and I am a grandpa and father that is also a fat man, so needless to say I know my ice creams, cookies and varied treats. The flavors available are varied and as I understand switched up often enough to keep you coming back for more. Allow me to tell you about the swirl cone creation that is one of your choosing and the toppings, ice cream, vanilla, strawberry or chocolate, then you chose what you want in it and they mix it up it comes out as ice cream goodness and presentation is spot on. I got vanilla with waffle cone pieces and chocolate syrup around the cup instead of a cone as I was looking for a drumstick in a cup if you must. The other ice cream offerings today ranged from the Vegan and regular Vanilla to Moose Trax to Vegan Aztec Chocolate. My kids and grandkids had just about every version of something tonight and we were all very happy with our selections. We will be back and often. Don't sleep on these guys if you are in Marana, Oracle or North Tucson. Hell I would drive from the South Side for this. And fyi they do Italian sodas and coffee as well. Update: I've been thinking about the Almond Pistachio ice cream since I first tasted it 2 years ago. Traveling by and had to stop again. Unfortunately, they rotate their flavors and did not have the Almond Pistachio. Though, I was bummed there are other delicious flavors to try. You can sample up to 2 before you make your selection. I sampled the Bourbon Toffee Crunch and the Oatmeal Pie. And took a pint home of those. I do love though, if you can't decide, in their freezer chest they carry a sampler box with 6 flights of their many different rotating flavors. I don't know the cost but what a fun option. They also have pup cups. If you're eating your ice cream there I suggest the bubble waffle which I had last time. That was delightful. Don't think you can make a wrong choice here though.

Was at Claire's Cafe speaking to the regulars there who pointed me in the direction of Lick's. They said it was a must. And thank goodness they told me about it because it was such a treat. The recommendation was a bubble waffle. OMG delicious bubbles of crispy waffle yumminess. I tried a scoop of vegan Lemon Poppyseed and Almond Pistachio with it.
