We started frequenting this teriyaki place when the pandemic hit 12 months ago. We wanted to support our local restaurants, and this was one we chose to help keep afloat. On our first visit last April, we found that the quality of the food was above average and the portions were generous. The store was convenient for us: they had take-out and it was less than 10 minutes from our house. We have been back to that store since, on average, once per week, to get lunch. About two months ago, we started to notice problems with the quality of the food. More and more we started to see chicken that was horribly burnt, blackened actually. The flavor was more charcoal than chicken. My partner, who normally orders the chicken breast teriyaki, found that the chicken was consistently rubbery. Last week, I decided to say something to the woman at the counter about it. Her response was cordial, but, in my opinion, didn't go far enough to qualify as good customer service. She asked me to bring the food back to the store to get another order if that happens. There were a couple of problems with that: (1) it's an enormous burden to place on the customer to drive home, eat and then drive all the way back to replace bad food for food that will likely also be bad, considering she wasn't taking the complaint of the "quality" seriously; and (2) she could have demonstrated a true commitment to retaining a repeat customer by offering a free lunch or a refund on the last meal, as an apology for a series of bad meals. Incidentally, the chicken I picked up that day looked fine in the store, but when I got all the way home and started eating, it was severely dried out, like jerky. That was the last straw for me. I was going to leave "3" stars in this review, but after considering the lackluster response I got from K's Teriyaki after a good faith effort to bring this problem to their attention, I had to downgrade the rating to "2" stars -- customer service always factors into my experience of dining, even if it's take-out. Fortunately, there's lots of competition out there. If you make the drive into Marysville, check out Tokyo Stop -- they have, hands down, the best...
Read moreFood was just 'ok'. The portions were a good size as expected from other reviews, and the ingredients in the two dishes we ordered were cooked properly (and warm when we received it - food was delivered thru a service right on time), but the salad (which was in the container with Mongolian beef) was HOT, wilted, and un-editable. I used my own lettuce, instead, to make a 'salad' using the dressing provided in the container (thank goodness it was in a tiny tub and not pre-dressed or I wouldn't have had any at all). The Mongolian beef was not like others' I've had and, hopefully, I won't ever have it again. This dish should typically be sweet and spicy (although there is some debate in certain circles as to the 'spicy' factor), but tis dish had NO sweet and NO spice. It tasted of soy sauce/ teryaki sauce and greasy cooked beef, but that's it (theer were green onions in it which are expected). Anyway, I split it with my husband who said he wouldn't have known it was Mongolian beef unless I told him. Our second dish was beef Yakisoba which we again shared. Unfortunately, it had the SAME flavor profile as the Mongolian beef (which should NOT be the case - each of these dishes should have distinctly different flavors). When placing the order, I had considered getting chicken teryaki, but I am glad I changed my mind because we realized fairly quickly that I it would've had the same flavor as the other two dishes. I gave 3 star because the meat was not tough like others' I've had and because the food looked like they at least tried. But honestly, I won't order...
Read morePretty gross place to walk into really. First time I had to listen to a static am/fm radio playing some local pop music while I wait I led for my order. Food was decent first time.
Second time…
Ordered teriyaki chicken and paid extra for the extra dressing and sauce. Got home and literally less than 5 minutes from picking it up I was eating it I was starving. Well it was like jerky and it tasted very funky. It was late about an hour before close..
I called after having a handful of bites and a full container of sauce to be able to eat it. They asked me to bring it back, so I did. The manager said that’s what their chicken is like and told me that’s how it’s supposed to be and sorry I don’t like it.
Pretty bad they asked me to bring it back and did absolutely...
