On 11/25/24, I called my local store to order a chocolate pecan pie. The hostess connected me to the kitchen. As suspected, no one answered, because it was in the middle breakfast rush (8am); it would be ready at 8:55am. I hung up, and ordered the pie online. My order was processed, and I received my confirmation via email. My morning was delayed, so I did not get to pick up my pie before noon. I arrived around 1:30, and the hostess at the desk had no record of my order. I showed her the email confirmation, and she checked again. No order in the queue. She asked another associate, and she also could not find anything re my order. The second associate also looked at my email. Then a manager came from back, asked to see my email, and then proceeded to go into the kitchen to retrieve my pie. This took about 20 minutes; my waiting time already was 10 minutes. In the meantime, the hostess explained to me that since I did not pick up the order in a timely manner, it was kicked out of the queue. Even though it was paid for, and had NOT been picked up, she said it was marked “picked up” to empty the queue in case there was a tip on the order. I told her there wouldn’t be, because it was paid online. She said that didn’t matter; if a server’s shift ends, they have to end the transaction so the employee can collect their tips. But I reiterated that I still had paid for it, and it should be in the system waiting to be completed. She told me that wasn’t how it worked. The manager did not explain anything, nor did she apologize for the mix up or inconvenience. Cracker Barrel is a wonderful place to shop and eat – it’s a family and friend favorite. However, this experience really left me sad and upset. I understand sometimes orders aren’t picked immediately, and accounting has to run its course. But it was only a few hours – not 24, and not a few days. This store location is in St. Louis MO, on Heimos Industrial Drive. If this truly is your company policy, it’s not a pleasant one. Life happens, and sometimes things don’t run according to plan. It would have been a different situation if I hadn’t paid and not received confirmation. But they made me feel I was wrong for not getting...
Read moreCouple of things…first I don’t understand losing a quarter of your total parking to curbside pickup? And you put the curbside pickup in the 6 spots closest to the store? While I get curbside service, but to penalize those that actually want to sit down and eat which not only ensures your servers are getting tips, but the fact people are possibly going to purchase something in your country store and have a nice relaxing meal which increases revenue, this curbside crap doesn’t generate any revenue at the store and it damn sure doesn’t put any dollars in your servers pockets.
My server was phenomenal…now the food, no more biscuits at breakfast? I ordered the Grandmas favorite, the cured ham slice actually stunk and I mean smelled way past its prime kind of odor, I was told that’s what cured ham smells like? I grew up in the country, plus I am 60 years old. I’ve had a lot of cured ham in my time and that stuff was half rotten. It was way past servable quality for sure. Did the restaurant industry not learn anything from the Longhorn Shigella fiasco
My server brought me the sugar cured ham and it was fine.
Cracker Barrel has really cut down on their portions all in the name of revenue, they think the curbside is helping to the point where they alienate people that want to come in and sit down by taking all the parking spots close to the store away.
I think Cracker Barrel‘s been in a decline ever since this new CEO took over, and in the name Of increasing revenue has almost ruined a damn...
Read moreI have always wondered what the hype was about the Cracker Barrel was.. I have not grown up in the States.. so most of these places are new to me.. I have seen a lot of references to them in TV shows and Programs.. So finally I had the opportunity to visit one.. Well interesting it is an old time country type store that you can purchase items that are unusal.. and lots of Christmas stocking fillers and gifts for friends and family.. and yourself if so inclined... Some prices are a bit high.. and others reasonable.. so get at own risk.. Then there is the restaurant section. . Very much old style decor plenty of dust gathering objects and paraphernalia.. Service was good.. waitresses responsive and friendly.. Food offerings was old style American restaurant food.. Steak and fish available with sides of country style cooking.. everything was simple and tasty.. no Mexican or other foreign influence as one would find in most restaurants lately. Just good ol country food.. I would have liked to picture some of the foods.. however they would need to work on their presentation skills.. most of my sides just merged with each other.. did not look good but it was tasty.. fresh and hot.. The fried livers and fried catfish was perfect.. so those I can recommend.. I believe Sam Elliot would recommend the steak... reasonably priced.....
