DO NOT GO HERE! Unless youād like to get scammed and catch a possible charge. I came here after working an extremely long shift to pick up dinner since it was too late to cook. I ordered on the phone at 7:08 pm and was told it would be a twenty minute wait. I arrive at 7:26 and pay for my food and the front host told me it would be just a few more minutes which I didnāt mind. Well 7:40 rolls aroundā¦.. then 7:50⦠then 7:55 and I still donāt have my order as well as no update of when it would be ready. I finally get my food at 7:58.. 30 minutes past the time I was told it would be ready. I walk out with my food then I go in the car to check it. I had 2 combination specials and a separate order of BBQ wings. When I checked the bag I was missing an egg roll and two wings from my order. No problem! I simply go back in and let the front hostess know that I had a couple things missing from my order. So she pulls out the receipt and says itās not on the ticketā¦.. š I told her I know exactly what I ordered and that the woman taking the order even read it back to me. They claim that I had only ordered 1 combination special and a 6 piece wing⦠As you can see from their menu they only have an 8 piece wing and that each combination special comes with an egg roll. Mind you, Iāve been coming here for an EXTREMELY long time and I let them know that this is the first time Iāve ever had an issue and I can understand things happen especially since they were busy. The host says she will get the manager to clear things up but instead of the manager herself coming out, she sends her underage daughter out to speak with me. She says āmy mom says or new ordering operator has been acting up and sheās sorry for the mix up, but you will have to pay for the items missing from your order.ā ā¦what?!?? Why would I pay for the items yāall forgot to put in my bag. To make an already long story short, I told them they could have all their food back and I want my refund. After paying yāall 45 damn dollars yāall have the nerve to try and get more money from me?! Absolutely not! It took about 15 minutes of going back and forth of them trying to hustle me and keep my money. So in all I spent almost an hour and a half here for NOTHING! Iām floored that they would let an eggroll and a few wings missing from an order prompt them to lose a customer. They need some classes and their head examined for how they treat their customers and letting A CHILD handle business. I honestly feel sorry for the little girl. Will never EVER be back. Do yourself a favor and save your money and the headache youāll get from going here. 10/10 DO...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGolden Garden used to be the very best Chinese restaurant in Asheboro, or according to me it was back in the day. Its been a long time since I've eaten there, and I will not be going back. Something has changed, and not for the best. The egg drop soup was a very dark yellow and appeared to be very oily based. It had a different smell to it than what I remember. The flavor was not good, I ate as much as I could, but had to give it up after forcing a fourth of it down. I got Sesame Chicken. It did not taste anything like sesame chicken and had a strong odor of molasses. Also, there was not one sesame seed to be found. Again, I forced down what i could. While waiting for my order, I observed the inside dining area. The windows and glass door was filthy!! It looked like greasy hands had been all over the glass. The rest of the restaurant had absolutely no appeal to it. It just felt dirty in there. It definitely was...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGolden Garden has the best Chinese food in the area, and honestly the best I've found at this price point anywhere in the country (lived around Florida, Nevada, and Northern California). They've always been very nice and accommodating, but something about the ingredient quality is just stellar, and it shows in the flavor and their wide-ranging menu. That's what keeps me coming back. You're not finding better without either seriously either paying for it, or making it yourself.
My go-to orders are the Penang Curry (peanut sauce w. meat) and Sesame Chicken (very sweet), but everyone else I know loves the Pepper Steak with Onion. All of the soups are wonderful. Whatever you get, you really have to try the Chinese Donuts though. They're a great desert, and go good...
