We went for an early lunch. It looked closed from the outside because it's so dark inside. We went up to the counter to place our order, not a huge selection, but enough, and it looks like a place that definitely needs updating. They had leaks from the ceiling, with clothes on the floor to keep the floor dry, it's very dusty and kind of dreary inside in decor. We went for the food so I'll give my thoughts on that. We ordered a medium meat lovers pizza w two fountain drinks. It was about $18 for the two of us. The wait for our meal wasn't long but I tried not to look around much because the restaurant is not well kept in cleaning or repairs. It looks like they're updating and expanding in the open space next door, so hopefully it will be a better appeal to go there. Our pizza came on a cardboard "tray" which seemed odd to me, but maybe that's how it's done in this part of Alabama. The pizza was a thinner crust than I usually like, but it had a very generous amount of meat and cheese. We did finish our lunch and probably will go back, simply for the pizza not...
Read moreI haven’t lived around this area for long. My boss and I decided to try the Pizza Shack for the first time. We weren’t made aware of the fact that they don’t take debit cards when we placed our order over the phone for pickup. When I walked in, it smelled absolutely amazing! Unfortunately, I didn’t know that supreme was called a special as I have never been there before. She called out the order to me and I corrected her by saying, “I’m not sure that he got a special, I think he got a supreme.” She was unfriendly when she made me aware of the fact that a special is a supreme. When I pulled out my debit card, she then told me they don’t take debit card as if it was an inconvenience to have to tell me that. I didn’t see it anywhere on their page and they didn’t tell us that when we placed the order. However, The young lady who answered the phone when I called was very friendly. I’m not sure if I...
Read moreWe were in town from Mobile and dined here - there are slim pickings as far as restaurants in Ashland, apparently. Arrived just after 4pm, when the place was virtually empty. We were not greeted at all when we walked in, and the girl behind the counter who took our order was aloof, unfriendly, and gave us sweet tea instead of the unsweet tea we ordered (our ticket said unsweet, so she clearly didn’t hear us wrong). Then we waited over an hour for two 8-inch pizzas, one of which was just plain cheese. The cheese pizza had obviously been baked earlier in the day and reheated. The cheese was hard and dry rather than melty. The “waitress” never once asked if we needed refills or anything during our 1hr+ wait, then when she finally brought the pizzas, she looked at us like we were crazy for asking for plates. Definitely not a...
