Deb's Diner — Restaurant in Ashtabula

Let me preface my comments with "this might just not be the place for me."

I waited until I've tried Debs a handful of times because I thought maybe I was being unfair initially but after this morning I can conclusively say I'm less than enthused. The food is consistently either over or undercooked which I could forgive if it were seasoned properly...or at all. At all would be nice. It's just warm food on a plate. Today alone my french toast was way undercooked, I couldn't even finish it. My entire tables scrambled eggs were runny still. My dad ordered his sausage well done and got barely done. Kids pancakes were so overdone they had the consistency of rubber. That was just today, but it's my usual experience when dining here.

In relevance to my preface, I understand a lot of people in this area do not like seasoned food and largely have no idea how certain foods are meant to be prepared so again maybe this isn't the place for me.

I will say however the staff is overall very cordial and eager to please. I've only ever had issues with one server who gave me off vibes of racial preference in customers but the last few times I've been there I haven't seen her so perhaps that was an issue already addressed by management, in which case 2 thumbs up. Their prices are pocket friendly so if you're eating out on a budget this is a place to consider. I would honestly change my rating to 3 stars if only they prepared food with a little bit of salt and/or pepper. Improperly prepared and tasteless is just...

My job just recently put me on thirds (plz pray for me 🙏) and I’ve been wanting to come home and order myself a burger or something besides breakfast or Burger King 🤮. But this spot came in clutch. The lady on the phone (I didn’t get her name) was sweet and kind, took my order, and said they would have it ready in 20 minutes. When I heard this I almost cried. But anyway the food was good, the customer service was great, and the dining room was lively and clean. I will definitely be returning to this spot for my morning burger. Maybe even take my gf here for lunch sometime. (And the lady on the phone was right, they do have some good onion...

Outstanding meals. Wife ordered the club sandwich (and I definitely helped myself to a little) and I ordered the "All-in-one" which was a beautiful mess of eggs, hashbrowns, sausage, bacon, mushroom, peppers, onion, cheese, and country gravy with Texas toast. Extremely fair prices and you can easily feed yourself for $10-$13. Great variety, people are friendly, and the place is clean. Danielle was our waitress and she was attentive but not OVERLY attentive. Sad that they'll be closed next month but this is one of those places that I'll be...
