Wow really! I can't believe how rude the owners husband is! I was there yesterday and I have read the comments he has written in my daughters and another persons review. It was NOT a disgruntled person waiting for a free handout at all. I would like to say that the only reason I even gave them a 1 star was because it wouldn't allow me to put NO STARS!!! Did they have some good things? Yes they did. Let me clear up a couple things. First off we had a party of 4! The were other people with us in a SEPERATE party and they were a party of 5. That does not make a party of 9. We sat at our own table. The owner was very nice and congenial and no one will take that from her. As kind as she was the service was still poor. I tacked it up to them just being busy. We were at the restaurant for almost an hour and a half because yes they did mess up on the other pizza. Our pizza in our order came out quickly. I ordered an individual pizza with spinach, white sauce, chicken and onions. It was not very good at all. Did I eat it? Yes I did. If somebody pays $8.00 for a little mini pizza they don't usually let it go to waste!!! My son ordered the philly steak which was mediocre also but when you are in a small town I guess that is all you can expect. Usually when you order something like that it ranges in cost from $5.95 to $8.95 and comes with french fries or onion rings. This one cost $12 and came with a little bag of potato chips. We also ordered a large pizza for $20 that had sausage and pepperoni. Personally I think the prices are OUTRAGEOUS!!! I could get better pizza at Dominos or Pizza Hut. I think the only 5 stars they are getting at this restaurant are from family and friends or people they pay to give them a high rating. I personally never would have done a negative review or bothered with putting a review if it wasn't for how they treated the OTHER TABLE....SEPERATE GROUP with us. First off I always leave 20% tip so they shorted themselves on a tip by adding in an 18% tip. If I was the other party I wouldn't have left any tip at all! We had our pizza and were almost finished and they still didn't have theirs. They asked the people multiple times about when they were going to receive theirs. The lady FINALLY told them the pizza was burnt and so they had just put in a new one. I believe Clint was correct....they forgot to put in the pizza and so they just used that as an excuse. Most restaurants would feel bad and offer some type of conciliatory gesture. At the very least they should have given them an apology but that wasn't even done! The average restaurant would say "we are so sorry for the inconvenience. Let me get you.... while you wait" And then they would offer them an appetizer or drink or at least something. The ones that don't do that would offer the delayed item free or at least some percentage off. You need to get out in the real world and see how real companies and businesses work. Your aim is to please the customer. They ordered so many things from you that you should have shown them some type of sorrow or fault. They never once asked you for anything free. APOLOGIES don't cost anything and you could have done that! Instead the "manager" tried to put the blame on the "owner" saying "She's the owner I can't make changes to what she does" Not once does he even acknowledge that he's even married to her. The place is a SCAM. By the way, that pizza they ordered...more than half of that ended up in the garbage and that pizza cost $26 or $28. So once again you are wrong! Everything was NOT eaten. I am so sorry for the people in your little town that have no idea that there are actually good restaurants out there. Maybe one day they will be able to leave the confines of your town so they will be able to sample what real pizza taste like! By the way I love your responses. It just goes to show everybody your true colors and how...
Read moreThe first time I went here was in 2011. The pizza was excellent and the huckleberry ice cream even better. The service was excellent.
However, I had a very different experience coming here two weeks ago.
My friends and I were very tired after a hike to Mesa Falls, and wanted to stop somewhere to eat. I'd recommended 511 because of my past experience. I'd heard that ownership had changed since but I didn't let that deter me. We walk in and just get stared at by the customers AND staff. No "Welcome" or even a "Hi!" from anyone. We weren't dressed weird or acting loud, so that was strange for us.
We sat ourselves down quickly to avoid the gaze of everyone and waited to be served. The waitress was very nice and got us drinks. I'd told my friends the pizza was awesome, so some of us got individual-sized pizzas(avg. $8.00). Another got the mac & cheese bread bowl ($8). Another got the sandwich/french onion soup dip($12).
Food came. The individual pizzas were micro-sized. Like the size of a grown man's fist. $8.75 for a fist full of pizza that was 70% crust and 30% mediocre toppings. The bread bowl, however, was huge and cheaper! I can understand why it was, since it's just bread and pasta, but come on! If you're going to charge 8 bucks for a pizza, make it worth it to your customers!
We were reluctant, but we ordered dessert. Friend tried to order the famous shake. They didn't have it. I listed at least 5 ice cream flavors off of the menu (which by the way is just Farr's Ice Cream you can buy from the store) and the waiter said they were all out. My friend got a normal shake and got a separate cup because there was so much. I paid for a sundae that was 50 cents more than his huge shake and I got a tiny bowl with two small scoops of ice cream and a squirt of "hot fudge" on top (picture attached). Seriously? What is this? Balance your menu prices!!
Pros: Waitress was very nice and helpful. Can't remember her name. Latina. Building: Really cool building that is well decorated and clean. This definitely is geared towards locals and tourists. Feels like a hometown restaurant.
Cons: Overpriced!! If you come here knowing you are going to spend money, get the larger-sized pizzas! Better cost/portion. Lack of stock menu items. Why have 15 flavors of ice cream if only 8 are available and one isn't even sold anymore?
Bottom Line: If you are looking for a homey place to eat pizza, this is one of the only decent one in the surrounding areas. Incredibly overpriced, but it might be worth it if you have the cash and order...
Read moreI used to run 26 pizza restaurants in 2 states.. So when I say we drove 42 miles (one way) to eat here for the 3rd time.. That ought to tell you something. This trip was to try their heralded pizza ( and it didn't disappoint).. The crust was top notch.. Toppings fresh, plentiful, and tasty.. Cooked just right (they cook them on a stone hearth system).. Upper moderate in price and have lots of unique combos to try out.. My only knock was on the sauce.. It was a little on the light side.. Next time I'd order it with extra sauce. And that's unusual for me.. For some of the other combos they may be just right.
The place was clean, neat and nice atmosphere with the walls highlighted with some history and heritage of Ashton and Idaho. They have a new fangled old fashioned soda fountain.. Private party room or for groups.. And one dining table behind a bank vault door if your do inclined..
I highly recommend their (only served on Sat night) special.. PRIME RIB 8-10 Oz, Loaded Baked potato, & salad.. All for only $15..yep just fifteen bucks. They also offer 6 or so various cold bottled beers for $3 everyday and have a couple of wide-screens if your into that.
We also tried their wraps for lunch one day.. And my wife's still talking about hers.. And their hand dipped ice cream.. Many flavors was also a hit with both of us.
On the 3rd visit, I called the Mgr out to congratulate him on a job well done and to tell him about how well our first waitress did.. Even though the next two did well.. The first gal we had was well above par in taking care of a lot of the floor, happily, on our first visit.
Well, we had the privilege of chatting with the Mgr., Billy.. Who happened to be the owner.. Oh, as we told him about the gal that waited on us and many others on our first visit ( he just smiled) Turns out that is his wife!
Wishing them the best.. And again worth the drive.. BTW how did we find this place.. I asked a young man at the gas station in Island Park, ID about some good places to eat.. And he told me " Trust me sir - - It's worth the drive". Had it not been for his advice, we'd of never found the place.. And it's not normally, at first glance, the type of place we'd normally ever stopped and tried.. But if these Ohioans are ever back this way.. You can bet I'll go out of my way to check back on...
