Frostop Drive-In 📍 26 US-20 Ashton, ID 83420 We ordered: 🍔 Frostop Burger - burger with Black Forest ham and bacon 🥓 🍔 Pastrami Burger - burger with pastrami 🍗 Chicken Strips for the kids 🍦Butterfinger Shake 🍦 Huckleberry + Raspberry Shake 🍦 Oreo Shake 🥔Tater tots and waffle fries Their shakes are mixed in shop and we loved them. The burgers were incredibly good and so were the fries & tater tots. We loved their fry sauce. Dining options: 🚗 Served at your car (one of the few places that have this classic experience!) ☀️outdoor dining right next to your car 🍽️ Indoor dining at the bar or at tables inside Frostop Drive-In has been operating on Hwy 20 in Ashton, Idaho for 60 years. This old-fashioned drive in has been in business since 1965. #eastidahoadventures #yellowstonetetonterritory #frostopdiner #frostopdrivein #ashtonidaho

Best road trip food stop I ever had. Headed out in 2013 with friends and family to Yellowstone. My buddy who planned the trip chose this location for a lunch stop. Service was sort of on the slow side but it was crowded and to be expected, especially since we caused some of the crowding with such a large group. Great service and folks made us feel welcome. Indoor seating is a little cramped but quite cozy. The food was great and served hot and fresh. The souvenirs were fun and the place was decorated with the same stuff they sell. I still have my Frostop mug that I bought. I do wish they were selling bottles of that Buffalo Tabasco. I mostly wanted it for the cap but it wouldn't be a bad idea to overstock and offer it for sale too. If I recall right the owner was the one who gave me a cap from one of the bottles as a souvenir, I do appreciate her extra effort to please. Still have that cap around here as a momento too. Like most of the folks who posted reviews for this location it truly is one of the last remaining places that will give you a little piece of Americana (for those of you who like the old drive up diners). I hope other folks can enjoy it like we did. I am glad to have experienced it. To the owner I am sorry but I though I did have a post here some time ago after our trip. Was just reminiscing and checked the map and noticed there was no review from any of us. Keep up the good work helping those travelers stay full and happy for their road trips and God Bless.

Epic road trips call for epic side trips. On a recent getaway to Jackson, WY, after exploring the downtown square, the Grand Tetons, Jenny Lake, Mormon Row, and Teton Village, we decided one afternoon to take a little detour. I had heard about and did some research on an old-school drive-in diner across the border in Idaho that still served Frostop Root Beer, and that was all the excuse I needed. Because YES, I'll go out of my way for a good root beer. So, we hopped in the car and drove an hour and a half through some of the most beautiful countryside on the western side of the Grand Tetons. The route took us past the small towns of Victor and Driggs, until we finally rolled into Ashton, Idaho, home since 1965 to the Frostop Drive-In. Walking up felt like stepping back in time. It’s everything you want from a classic small-town diner: vintage character, friendly service, and honest-to-goodness comfort food! The menu includes cheeseburgers, fried okra, BLT's tots and more. Of course, the highlight is a frosty root beer float. It was simple, delicious, and absolutely worth the trip. I’ll admit, friends & family teased me about spending nearly four hours driving there and back just for a diner meal. But honestly? I’d do it all over again. If you love nostalgia, small towns, and the kind of roadside Americana you don’t find much anymore, don’t sleep on Frostop Drive-In. Take the detour — you’ll thank yourself later. I recently had the pleasure of dining at Frostop, and I must say it was an absolute delight for my taste buds. This establishment has truly mastered the art of crafting mouthwatering burgers and serving up perfectly crispy fries. Allow me to share my experience and thoughts on this delightful culinary adventure.

First and foremost, let's talk about the burgers. Oh my goodness, they were simply outstanding! Every bite was a burst of flavor that left me craving more. The patties were juicy, perfectly cooked, and seasoned to perfection. Whether you prefer a classic cheeseburger, a gourmet creation, or even a vegetarian option, Frostop has you covered. The variety on their menu is impressive, and each burger is a work of culinary art. The attention to detail in the preparation is evident, and you can truly taste the difference. I was particularly impressed with the quality of the ingredients, from the fresh lettuce and tomatoes to the melt-in-your-mouth cheese. It's clear that Frostop is committed to using top-notch ingredients to create an unforgettable burger experience.

Now, let's move on to the fries. Oh, how I adore a plate of crispy fries! Frostop knows exactly how to achieve that coveted level of crispiness. Each fry was golden brown, perfectly seasoned, and had a satisfying crunch. It was as if they had discovered the secret formula for creating the ultimate crispy fry. They were addictive, and I found myself reaching for fry after fry, unable to resist their irresistible allure. Whether you enjoy them on the side with your burger or as a standalone snack, these fries are a true delight.

Beyond the exceptional food, Frostop offers a welcoming and cozy ambiance. The staff members were friendly, attentive, and eager to ensure that my dining experience was enjoyable. The service was prompt, and I appreciated the staff's knowledge and enthusiasm when recommending menu options. The overall atmosphere of the restaurant was inviting, making it the perfect place to relax, savor a delicious meal, and enjoy the company of friends and family.

In conclusion, if you are a burger aficionado or simply someone who appreciates a well-crafted meal, Frostop is a must-visit. Their burgers are beyond compare, bursting with flavors that will leave you wanting more. The fries, with their perfect crispiness, are the ideal companion to these delectable creations. The combination of exceptional food, friendly service, and cozy atmosphere make Frostop a true gem in the dining scene. I wholeheartedly recommend it and cannot wait to return for another round of...

Robbie, our server, ruined it for us. We are frequently in the area and always wanted to eat here. We ate inside. We were told to have a seat and someone would be with us. 10 minutes after sitting, another group came in. We're still waiting for a server. Robbie takes the new group's drink order not long after they sit. I tried to get her attention but was ignored. A while later she brings their drinks and takes their food order. I try again to get her attention, but am ignored as she disappears for a long time AGAIN. 30 MINUTES LATER, I get a teen boy's attention. He actually checks on his customers. He goes to get Robbie. She FINALLY comes out. I tell her that her (only) other table was here 10 minutes AFTER we were there and that we had waited 30 MINUTES. She offers no apology. She takes our drink orders and food order. Disappears for a while again. She doesn't come out of the kitchen for close to 30 minutes. That was to bring food. No drinks ever refilled. She rudely puts my food in front of my son instead of coming closer to me. I ask for ketchup and mustard to put on my burger. I wait 15 minutes while my food gets cold. I finally went to the counter and the girl said she would let Robbie know. I wait another 5 minutes. Robbie comes out. I say "ketchup and mustard?" Her: "Oh yeah." No apology and disappears again. She finally brings it. I've never seen a server stay hidden in a kitchen so long. She brings our check before we finish and disappears for good. After waiting another 15 minutes or so, I finally go and ask the girl at the counter if I could pay her. The group that Robbie served before us had to do the same. She is a terrible employee. I don't exaggerate. This restaurant needs more adults than highschool kids working on the weekend. The food was good, but the service from Robbie will keep us from going back. Huge letdown because we love restaurants like this. We spent around 2 hours there. Customers with different servers came, ate, and left before we were even acknowledged by Robbie. And we tried many times to get her attention but was ignored. The waiting and waiting ruined a planned family day. What began as a quick lunch became dinner. Hopefully the owner will listen to this. We had hoped to be repeat customers.

I appreciate that the owner has followed up on our...

Did not have the best experience. On our way home from Island Park, and we were hoping to make a quick pit stop for some food. Both my wife and I have never been to Frostop before, so we thought we'd give it a try. Ordered the Jalapeno Bacon burger and Cod & Butterfly Shrimp fish & chips. We literally sat there for an hour, and after seeing multiple other groups come in, get their food, and leave, and after making eye contact with our server multiple times, I went up to the front to see what was going on. Turns out the server didn't put our order in the system or something, so they didn't have it ready. Wasn't even that busy, and the server walked past us many times. We had just thought they may have been short staffed and we're trying to be patient, but looks like they just didn't put the order in right and forgot about us. Well, they get our food started, 20 minutes later it's ready, and it tasted horrible. Portions for the fish and chips were way tiny... The cod was super soggy. Dipping sauce for the shrimp tasted like a weird ketchup... Burger was really dry, bun tasted stale, and we wished we had just finished the drive and made a frozen pizza back at home. And then to top it all off (not Frostops fault), in the middle of trying to eat the food, my wife sees some guy vomit all over the ground outside the window.... So appetites were instantly lost.

The owner/manager (lady who seemed like was in charge) was nice, and when I told her we had been waiting an hour and saw big groups of people who came in 20 minutes after us already get their food and leave, offered to give us the meal for free. So we do appreciate that. And I hope this is just a rare occasion that stuff like this happens. However I don't believe we'll be back again, and I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. Trails Inn has immensely better quality in food as well as...
