After patronizing the establishment on the average of three days a week since opening , on a busy saturday morning with a long line I mistakenly ordered a fountain drink when I wanted an Iced coffee. When approached by a member of the kitchen staff I tried to explain and pay the fifty cent difference but he just kept yelling at me in front of the whole restaurant to the point that we had to leave without getting the meal we paid for. Ive always tipped well and have been on a first name basis with most of the staff, but this could have been easily resolved but it was clear that he didn't want resolution. I really do hope that Ideal steps their game up, for time will only tell if Athens can support three bagel shops. While the staff is friendly most of the time and the food is delicious, the bakery is really beginning to struggle with cleanliness Issues. I've never been to Mexico but I do have over ten years of experience in food and bev, and I sure as hell wouldn't take the chance of loosing a regular customer over fifty cents. I've dined at some of the finest Restaurants in the world from Grammercy Tavern to Joel Robuchon , in fact I was even the General Manager of a Bagel Shop for a year and never have I ever been treated as poorly as I was treated today, nor have I ever treated a guest so poorly for something as simple as not wanting to use a non-biodegradable cup. And I certainly would never treat someone so poorly who spent good money in my restaurant at least 3 days a week. Prior to today I would have given a four star rating, and I can't justify a 1 so yall get a 2
Sincerely,
Justin Evans and Laura Lay
Additionally I have noticed that the Iced coffee is not cold brewed, it is simply just coffee brewed over ice so in reality I still overpaid for my iced coffee at the fountain...
Read moreI'm from SC so I know very little about bagels. I would like to be a bagel know it all but my experience only goes as far as the grocery store. I have an idea how a bagel should be, I've imagined a fresh new York bagel from the city, I may be wrong but my idea of the "proper" bagel should be chewy, shiny, and a crisp on top. Ideal bagel is an awesome little college joint to sit down and be college cool, but I'm 41 so that isn't my purpose anymore.. Lol. Two dudes in Jamaican hats are doing the cooking, I had bacon fried egg and cheese on am everything bagel. The bagel honestly was no different to me than the ones at the grocery store, with the exception of thyme on top of the bagel, which really turns me off, but it's everything, so my complaint understandably holds no validity. The bagel wasn't chewy at all, but the bacon and the fried egg was outstanding! Perfectly fried egg and bacon was thick and substantial. Now before I get slammed for saying something about the bagels, it was good, just not my idea of great. It may or may not of been boiled? Great place, just wasn't my idea of awesome when it...
Read moreI got the Tupelo and it was not worth that money or .75 raise to it. They barely put any pb on it and the salt bagel does not go with the flavors of everything else at all. It was kinda sad bc I was looking forward to it and the amount of toppings was very piddly and not worth $5.75 for it. Altho when I got my sister’s bagel of her herb schmear on it that had plenty of spreading on it. I understand you get slammed but you gotta do a better job too in order to keep the sales. Also the coffee is not very good. Had to ask for another cup bc it was poured too high and I wasn’t able to put enough creamer in it. Still didn’t taste very good after sugar and creamer. Should have more options for creamer. Not an amazing place as I was told it was. Kinda...
