Went here with my wife for dinner. Based on the name I was expecting a typical pizza place. Upon entering we were surprised to note that had a more upscale feel than your casual pizza joint. We ordered cheesy breadsticks as an appetizer, a pizza, and an emmy burger. The descriptions on the menu were modest and brief, so we were surprised when they delivered the breadsticks. I had expected, well, breadsticks, but what we received was much more than that. It was akin to a sliced focaccia topped with gooey cheese and fresh pesto with a side of rich marinara. A pleasant surprise. Our entrees were just as decadent as the appetizer. The burger was ridiculously juicy and cheesy. I almost felt guilty eating it. The pizza was also great. It had a satisfying cheesy crispiness around the edges, and the center was soft and delicious. My only complaint would be that when we ordered our meal, the waitress said, “Did you want fries with your burger?” I took her to mean that fries were the default side and she wanted to make sure I was ok with that. In reality, the fries are a separate item in addition to the burger. I think the question would have been better phrased, “Did you want to ADD fries with your burger.” It’s a minor gripe however. I could have asked to clarify. The fries were waffle cut, seasoned and fried to perfection, and served in a mountainous pile at a minuscule cost. We plan on visiting here again soon. 5/5...
Read moreI have loved this place because I’ve gone here at least nine times in the last month but we just sat down and had the worst experience in Athens. My friend got a cup of coffee and we waited 10 minutes and she still didn’t even bring us milk when we asked for it. There was only one other table of with two people in the whole restaurant. The waitress was so incredibly rude to us. My friend went to the kitchen to ask if he can have some milk in his coffee and she came out screaming and told us to leave. By this time his coffee was cold and we didn’t even get to order. This woman needs to be fired. It was 4:45 PM on the 21st. I owned a restaurant and my friend is a reknown chef. We never saw such inept and rude service like this before. Update: I called the manager a few days later and he was as rude as the waitress. Said he had timed the time when they dropped off the coffee until my friend asked for the milk a couple of times and she disappeared into the other room and when she came back into the kitchen, he got up to ask for the milk with his coffee. The manager said he timed us on his time stamp and it was only three minutes. That was clearly impossible as we waited close to 15 minutes and never even got our orders taken. I had them on speakerphone with another professional in my car and when she started talking, he hung up on her and told us not to come back to the restaurant. Never in our lives have we had an...
Read moreI miss the Grit, but if anyone was gonna replace them, I’m happy it was Emmy Squared. I really enjoy the pizza as a native Michigander! You have to like a thick crust. If you remember the Sicilian slices at Transmet, I’d say they’re similar to that AND I definitely can eat half for dinner and half the next day because it’s so filling. I have to add: they really shine in the area of customer service. Clumsy by nature, I managed to trip in a pothole in the parking lot. Our waitress saw my skinned knee and limp and offered me ice and wipes to clean myself up. Another staff member saw we had toddlers with us and promptly helped us put their orders in (crucial if you’ve ever dined with anyone under the age of 4). The staff really helped make a tough day better! I had already thrown my shoulder out earlier that day so I was using the ice there as well when the waitress noticed. We ordered dessert as our kiddos were starting to get antsy and not only was it absolutely delicious, she kindly comped the dessert and told me to feel better soon. These acts of kindness meant the world to me! I forget their names, which is a bummer because I would love to share with the owner what a wonderful team they have hired. We...
