The quality of the pizza varies quite a bit. It can be really good or less than mediocre. But I've noticed some things to be concerned about over the past year or so, which I'd considered somewhat small individually, yet they've been adding up so I felt I should write a review. The main reason I'm writing this is for the cleanliness of the restaurant. A few quick things:
I usually just get water or beer, but the pitchers are sometimes a bit soapy, and the glasses often have somebody else's crumbs stuck to the rim. It happens, I guess, but it shouldn't.
I ordered a large pizza a few weeks ago, wanted to take some home, so I asked for a box. They gave me a USED pizza box. It had somebody else's cheese and grease stuck to the bottom and lid on the INSIDE. Boxes are very cheap, and a place the specializes in pizza should be well-stocked... no excuse for this.
I ordered a calzone some months ago and it was tasty enough... until I bit into something that felt and tasted (I imagine) like tape. I fished it out of my mouth and it was a plastic clear film. I poked around at my calzone and found the rest of it. I surmise it was the plastic seal from a ricotta cheese container that had been dumped onto and then baked into my calzone.
On trivia nights, they offer tickets for free pitchers of beer on occasion. However, they change the rules and expiration dates for how you can redeem these tickets pretty much every week. Free beer is free beer... but when it's served in a crumby glass from a possibly soapy pitcher...
Anyway. I really liked this place this a couple years ago. Now, I think I'm never...
Read moreMy husband, 3 year old son and I went to Johnny's pizza this evening because we were in the area and had a coupon from the Fantastic Savings coupon book my son had sold for his pre-school fundraiser. Please see the coupon pictured below. BUY ONE GET ONE FREE MENU ITEM UP TO 6.49. EXPIRES 10/31/19. Our waitress was very kind. We ordered 10 hot wings, cheesey bread, a tea and a beer. Having used coupons like this before, we naturally figured we would pay for the $10.99 wings and our beverages, and with the help of our wonderful little coupon, recieve the cheesey bread priced at $5.99, for FREE!!! When the waitress brought our bill, we gave her our card and coupon. She proceeded to inform us that the owner of the restaurant had instructed her to no longer honor these coupons as written, and that they would only apply to calzones or stromboli's. I asked to speak to the owner, and she informed me that he wasnt there and rarely is ever there actively running his business. I told her to keep the coupon to give to the owner the next time he was in and tell him THIS: we would NOT have stepped foot into your restaurant had we not had a coupon to use. Not honoring this coupon as it was written and sold to thousands of families in this area is fraud. False advertisement at its best, folks. Get people in the door with the promise of a free menu item up to $6.49 and then not honor it. Shame on you! My family won't be dining here again, and I will also be calling the owner of Fantastic Savings to let he or she know that this coupon being featured in their book is a scam and to not include them in next...
Read more(New Review) Looks like our prayers have been answered. The lighting is amazing, servers care, and the new owner Matt is an absolutely gem of a person. Really cares about the people who come in to have a good quality experience. Will be back! Feels like a brand new place!
(Old Review) Here is what you might not know about Johnny's pizza. The food is good, but be prepared to have hair in it, because the cooks are required to wear hats, but have long hair not in a hair net or nothing to keep there hairs from falling into your food. I had on more than one occasion had to bring back food because of hair inside. The owner promised us $25 gift card for everytime we got a google review with our name on it. He never honored his word and saying I was trying to cushion my paycheck on the way out. If you have family he pretends to care but when something bad happens to them he doesn't care or show any concern. Told my family to walk through a crime scene to get to work because they were short staffed. When someone was killed in my entry way. I always put in the extra touch getting to know each one of my guests by name and always making sure the place was spotless. My family used to love Johnny's before the Taylor the owner ran the place into the ground because he clearly cares about one...
