Again, truly disappointed. After waiting around six months to get up the courage to order again, I decided tonight 12/9/24 is the night. My wife and I travel 50 minutes to get DP Dough and the memory of it being our first date spot makes it much better. Unfortunately that memory has been tarnished again.

Tonight we ordered the family pick 4, and breadsticks. I typically take one to work the next day and she has one for lunch.

I got the Pig (pulled pork and BBQ). It was mainly fat from the pork (which… don’t get me wrong; that is tasty), but this time it was atrocious. The pork was cold, the cheese wasn’t melted - it was nasty cheese, (worse than school lunch cheese) and ONCE AGAIN the dough was undercooked and gross. I couldn’t continue.

In to the next test. The Bro zone. I tried, I couldn’t. Not sure if cheese was supposed to be in this calzone, but there wasn’t any. I do like cheese. The ham was not cooked, it was cold as if it came out of the cooler or was room temp, the other meats were the same. BUT, the thing that made this inedible was the dough. The dough is usually amazing, but this is the third trip in a row where the dough was undercooked and disgusting.

My wife got the Buffer zone (which I do not like) so I can’t comment. She said it was OK, not good, not bad. She said half of the cheese was melted, half wasn’t. She mentioned it was runny? Dunno if that’s how it’s supposed to be?

I’m not going to try the Italian zone, at least until I cook it tomorrow. I’m almost assured of getting sick tonight from the dough being undercooked. Time will tell, but in the fifteen minutes from eating and typing this message I already have “bubble guts”!!

We did spend 50 points (like I said I used to come here a lot) from my massive stockpiled amount for some cheese sticks…you guessed it, UNDERCOOKED and they didn’t even cut them into slices, smh.

I called to talk to someone about my experience. They said “the best can do is apologize” not in a mean way and I was not mean to them, but very respectful both ways. The only thing is they didn’t apologize, just make the statement that they could do that, which they didn’t. (Sorry if that was confusing). They did put me on the “make it right” list, but I really can’t fathom returning.

I’m pretty...

The calzones (we ordered 3) were on the bland side, weak flavor/taste. The dipping. marinara sauce was cold, like fresh from the refrigerator cold.

The order was a pick up. We were in our car at the place when we ordered, they brought it out to us and we paid exact change/cash. We went down the street to the closest gas station (spdwy) for fuel and get fountain drinks. From the time we received our order and the time we dipped into the marinara & calzones was less than 5 minutes. The calzones were fresh and hot (good thing) if not tasty. The very cold marinara sauce completed & ruined the effect. When we ordered/called, the sales person who answered was curt and upset. In the background there was a definite argument and/or verbal disagreement underway. The phone clerk then treated us as if we were involved in the dispute/argument already in progress. They treated us angrily, they were not pleasant. This was our first and definitely LAST time we ever order from D.P. Dough.

Mediocre food, ZERO business professionalism and zero customer interaction...

Tonight at around 2 AM, my brother ordered a single calzone, nothing else. It took until 3:40 AM to arrive, almost 2 hours. By the time it got here it was cold. He ended up falling asleep, so I waited for an extra hour for it to get here so it wouldn’t go to waste and I could refrigerate it so it could at least be eaten tomorrow.

This is a late hour and maybe they only have a few people working. But almost two hours, for a single calzone, in such a small town like Athens? Everywhere says they are also open until 4, so regardless of the hour, your service should be the same quality throughout the entire time the restaurant is open.

The one time I myself ordered from them as well, they took extremely long to deliver an order for a single person. My friends have had alright experiences, but I sadly never have within the 4 years I’ve been here in Athens. Unless you’re willing to risk hours for a single order to be delivered, I wouldn’t recommend ordering from here. Lack of communication and multiple-hour-delivery times make it feel like a waste...

Not worth it. I was recommended this place by some friends of mine - but was sorely disappointed. My calzone was bland, tasteless, and cold. The entire takeout container was soaked in water & grease. The marinara sauce was also cold. When I went in to pick up, the place was empty - and I had to wait several minutes for an employee to come out and help me. Maybe just a bad day here? I don't know. Worth a try once, but I won't be going back & cannot recommend it to anyone else.

Food is fine, but sometimes it comes to your house at a reasonable time, and sometimes (like right at this minute) it’s been an hour and a half since you’ve placed the order, it’s about to be your bed time, and the calzone still hasn’t arrived even though a half an hour ago they sent a text saying it left the shop. Update: It arrived over an hour and a half after the order was placed and the taste reflects this - lukewarm and tough.
