There's a new player in town, and this is what we need!

My wife and I finally made it to 101 Smokehouse over a week after they opened, and I sure wish we went sooner.

Instead of a bite by bite critique, going to give you highlights.

  1. The brisket was really good. The fat-to-meat ratio was perfect. The fat was buttery and the smoke ring was perfect as well!

  2. The fried jalapeño cheese curds were wonderful (although I'm not sure that it was cheese curds) and that will be a mainstay of my future visits.

  3. The cornbread was moist, slightly sweet and didn't need butter. Best cornbread I'd ever had.

  4. The BBQ sauces are to die for, ESPECIALLY the Carolinas! All home made in house, they need to bottle and sell it!

  5. Finally...the brisket chili. Man, what a suprise. I rarely order restaurant chili more than once because it usually disappoints (especially compared to my wive's) but not this...oh no, not this. I want to fill up a backyard swimming pool with this chili and just dive right in. Best chili I've ever eaten. Thick, with a wonderful chipotle taste, not too many beans at all.

I'll be back...with bells on and fork in hand! I am proud to support such a place in...

The museum is located at The Ridges. The Ridges is the remains of the Athens Lunatic Asylum. The asylum has an interesting history, and the facility is huge, but only a small portion is open to the public. They are repurposing the buildings, and Kennedy Museum is located in the original Admin building. The museum has a bit of everything, art, textiles, photography, history, agriculture, and other interesting displays. The museum is free and you can tour the exhibits in about an hour. There are hiking paths, and you can walk the grounds as well if you want to explore the...

I visited the Kennedy Museum of Art while visiting Athens, Ohio from Cincinnati with my fianée for Thanksgiving. My fiancée's mother, who lives in Athens, took us to the museum on our first day in town. I loved the museum's layout and was absolutely giddy walking through the special exhibition of "collections." So, cool. I was also fascinated to learn the history of the location (a former asylum). I only hope the museum continues to grow and add more exhibits in the...

This place was cool and I liked learning about new things. I liked the interactive few parts of the exhibit and although it’s sorta small, there was variety in the exhibits! I wish there were more rooms to explore but overall it was a great experience and definitely worth going. It’s free to get in, you have to pay for parking which isn’t terrible considering it’s free admission!
