Perhaps the grandest building in Athens and on the Ohio University campus, the Convocation Center is where the OU convocation as well as numerous seasonal and cultural events take place. I believe, OU basketball playoffs happen here as well.
Anyway, the big is nice and big - Ideal for a university that has more than 20,000 students. On convocation day - That usually happens in April of each year - the place is jam-packed. Parking is a hell. However, years of experience has taught OU admin to pull the event off seamlessly. Even so, go early and pick a nearby parking spot. Court Street is a huge climb from here. Not for the weak kneed.
While there, also explore the surrounding area. The Adena Bikeway is nearby, as is the Hocking River and pretty flowering trees...

We buy our tickets online so once you arrive they just scan your phone and you choose which seat you'd like to sit in. Admission is cheap enough that the whole family can enjoy it without breaking the bank. The concessions are a little less enjoyable. While it is old and its facilities reflect that fact, its domed top is an iconic welcome as you approach Ohio University's campus. I have no complaints about the Convo as a sports venue. There aren't really any bad seats. There is a giant score board that is visible around the venue. Parking can sometimes be a problem given that the nearby lots fill quickly, but otherwise, the Convo is a nice visit for whatever event you plan...
