Las Marias — Restaurant in Athens

On a family trip to Chattanooga.. my 12 person group was quickly accommodated. There was one server on a lunch afternoon on a Tuesday. We stumbled upon this place after a Mayfield Ice Cream tour nearby. We had plenty of appetizers and ordered a healthy sized lunch portions. The queso was great, the chips were not stale or anything else bad to report. There were fountain drinks and great fajitas.. tacos.. burritos.. and burrito bowls.

I am from Miami and it was just as good as anything I’ve had there. I can’t complain and for a group of 12 we paid $167.00… about $14 a person and that is much better than the $35 a person I would’ve paid in MIA.

Absolutely the best Mexican restaurant and most authentic Mexican food that I have had and yes it is in Athens tn hard to believe but it's the real deal! They are great people too who are really involved and love what they do and it shows. Love it love it been there 5 times in a week. That should tell you just how good it really is! Taco Tuesdays is awesome $.99 tacos for how good they are it's like you are getting them for free!!!!!!! This place is worth 10 stars if I could give them that many. Definitely recommend las Maria's even if you have to make a special trip from far away. Can't say enough about it I could go on and on. Taste it and you will see its home cooked...

Fantastic food and service. I'm from California and am generally put off by the Mexican food in Tennessee, which is from a different area of Mexico than I'm used to. I was able to speak to the cook through her son and learned that she used to live in the same city where I did in California! So the food was so wonderfully familiar and comforting. What an unexpected treat! I even ordered some things that weren't on the menu ahead of time, came and picked them up and had my favorites for a week. Very family oriented...
