I placed my order at 6pm on the app Slice because that is the app they use. Since it was a pickup, I had to pick a time. I had to choose 6:45pm because the time rolled to 6:01 and on this stupid app, it cannot be within 30 minutes so it kicked it to 6:45. I get there at 6:30. The music was so loud I had to scream at the servers about picking up my order. So, I will say the 2 servers, Taylor and Christine were very nice. Christine tells me it's not quite ready, but it will be in a few minutes. I waited till 7:20pm! The music was so loud because it was karaoke night. The case that displayed the pizza by the slice had a warning that it was hot, it wasn't hot and the pizzas looked like they had been there all day. I ordered a large pep with mushrooms, a 12" with everything and found out eventhough I had asked for thick crust, it's not available on any pizzas but it is an option on the stupid app. I also ordered garlic knots. Be aware, they are not knots. They are little butter soaked knubs. I also ordered some mozz sticks. The order total was over $72 and I had to add the tip in the app. I don't mind paying for good food, or tipping 15% when the service is good, but this pizza was horrible and the time it took from 6:01pm till 7:20 was ridiculous! The crust on the pepperoni was so hard my husband should have just sliced the box and ate it. The one with everything was so soggy because the veggies appeared to have been precooked and we're nothing but mush. Needless to say, we will not be back. It was a total disappointment! Don't waste your time unless you are just looking for something to eat and you don't really care...
Read morePizza is excellent. The place is old and not in great shape, but not a big deal if the food it good, and it is. No issue there. However, the owner/manager is unimpressive. I get Mozza coupons in the mail, which helps make the long drive from west Huntsville to Athens worthwhile. However, the owner/manager does not like these coupons. He argues that they are not valid or do not apply, when they clearly do, and then puts restrictions on their use. I understand trying to make a profit and seeing coupons come in the door is not very desirable, but if they get people to come try the pizza (and the pizza sells itself!), they are worthwhile in the long run. The most recent time I was there was the final straw. I had a 5 dollar off a $30 or more purchase. When I checked out, he looked at me with disappointment, then incorrectly argued that the coupon didn't apply. Then finally with a bit of an attitude, took the coupon and appeared to apply it. The total seemed slightly high, but close enough to not argue about. But upon review of the receipt, he only discounted the ticket 4 dollars (I know it's only a dollar, but that's not the point) and also charged a "noncash" fee of 4%. I'd have happily paid with cash if I had known of the 4% credit card fee. Bottom line is the pizza is great, but borderline unethical management will likely keep me away in the future. Maybe the Mozza on Jordan Lane will be worth the drive. Very...
Read moreOrder was placed over 90 mins in advance for a pick-up. Had to wait another 30 mins for the order. I noticed the 82 health rating, and immediately questioned my choice to try this place. Ive been here for over 10 yrs, and the building and it's frontage have always looked unappealing. Sometimes, however, you can find hidden gems! THIS was not a hidden gem.
Mozza Pizza earned that 82 rating. Crusts were burnt-bottoms were blackened burnt. Someone was on their phone not paying attention to the baking time. There is no excuse for burning pizza. The crust wasn't NY style, unless hard and burnt is now the NY standard. Toppings were cold. You can tell the pizza was pre-made with a minimal sauce and cheese base, then the toppings were thrown on, heated for less than 5 mins, just long enough to burn the crust and lukewarm the toppings. How hard is it to use FRESH sliced mushrooms, or spinach? Must be excruciatingly difficult here because mushrooms were canned, spinach was thawed frozen. Roasted peppers were canned as well. Very little meat on meat lovers pizza. A few scant ham toppings on the hawaiian pizza. plenty of canned pineapple though! Idk what they thought those little bits of pizza dough flash fried hard and smothered in confectionery sugar were suppose to be. Rough chewy nuggets were not on the menu, but they have them! Now I know why I never tried them. Parking is bad, food is...
