We visited Star of India the other night for the very first time with another couple, and the very first experience with true Indian food for any of us. We had no idea what to expect, but we ended up being very, very impressed. To begin with, the owner came out and promptly told us it would be at least an hour before we would get our food. He was very courteous and apologetic about it and I get it: Friday night, college town, and he said they were bombarded with takeout orders. I'm not even going to ding them a star for that because he was very upfront about it, and kept checking back on us regularly while we were waiting. Instead of frustration it turned to a nice leisurely evening. When the food did arrive, it was hot, fresh and very delicious. I had the shrimp masala (spicy), and it yes it was SPICY! We all liked what we had and the service was exceptional. We all went from being concerned it might be a total bust to agreeing we would go back (just maybe not on a Friday night when the students are in!). Great food and overall a...
Read moreI recently dined at the Star of India restaurant, and I have to say, it was a fantastic experience. The atmosphere was inviting and cozy, and the staff was welcoming from the moment I walked in.
But what really stood out was the food. The flavors were incredible, and everything was cooked to perfection. The curry, in particular, was outstanding - rich and flavorful without being too spicy. Every bite was a delight, and I couldn't get enough.
Despite having a limited staff, everyone worked hard to ensure that every customer was satisfied. I appreciated the attention to detail and the willingness to go above and beyond to make sure that everything was just right.
Overall, I highly recommend Star of India to anyone looking for delicious Indian cuisine. The food is great, the atmosphere is cozy, and the staff is dedicated to making sure that every customer has a great experience. I can't wait to go back and try more of their...
Read moreAfter a long, tiring day, all we craved was something simple with chicken. This was the only place open, so we called and placed an order for pickup. I asked for a recommendation, and the staff member on the phone suggested chicken pakora. I requested something tandoori-style instead, and they kindly suggested the chicken tikka and tandoori chicken, saying it would be ready in 15 minutes.
Unfortunately, the food was a letdown. The chicken had a very strong, unpleasant smell, was heavily dyed with artificial coloring, and didn’t look or taste appetizing at all. The chicken tikka came in surprisingly small portions, which didn’t feel worth the price. Sadly, we couldn’t even get through a bite, we ended up throwing the whole thing away!
We had ordered based on the great reviews and high ratings, so it’s hard to understand what went wrong. Maybe it was an off day, but we left very disappointed. Not...
