Since moving to the area from New York, I've been disparaging Atlantan bagels to friends as "round bread," but Brooklyn Bagel was the first place to hush me up with my first contemplative bites. The bagels we got here had some great crust and chew. We also managed to nab some fresh bagels so that the ones we got on our first (but certainly not last!) visit were warm in the bag.
Bagels are clearly the name of the game here, but there are a tantalizing array of babkas at the very front of the restaurant, as well as a refrigerated section of prepared foods and dips. The menu is surprisingly stacked with options - both on and off their namesake baked goods. There are endless permutations of bagel sandwiches offered here, along with wraps, salads, bowls, and deli sandwiches (which can either be served on a bagel or choice of bread). I spontaneously ordered an egg and cheese sandwich, and received a bagel with layers of fluffy egg within.
I came on a weekend, and from my vantage point in the dining space, there was a constant queue of folks hungry for bagels. That said, the cashiers are quick and the line moves with frightening efficiency, so much so that I'd actually recommend first timers step off the line and figure out what you'd like. My husband and I didn't do that, so when we hopped on the end of a seemingly long line, we were mildly alarmed to find ourselves before a cashier within thirty seconds without an order in mind.
Orders that are ready for pickup are called out by number, and they use a mic and speaker to mitigate any confusion (in fact, the system is so well set up, I was amused to find that there are even speakers built into restrooms, so no worries about missing your order while you're in the loo). Even with the bustle of constant foot traffic and diners with to-stay orders, it's notable that the staff regularly come by tables to give them a sanitizing...
Read moreUpdate on 8/28/21: They were very busy this AM. No sandwiches were available and the menu was covered up. I ordered a bagel with cream cheese and I got barely a scrape of cream cheese. Very disappointed. While I understand being busy and wanting to get orders out quickly, please don’t skimp on the product! All employees were very nice and so were the customers. I took my order to go so did not see the barely-there cream cheese until I got home. The bagel was delicious but I had to add my own cream cheese. I am attaching a picture for reference.
Original post: Wonderful!! I tried this place out today and picked up both breakfast and lunch to test out. Breakfast I was basic and got an everything bagel with plain CC. Super yummy! The bagel is closer to a NYC bagel then any other replace so far in ATL…and the cream cheese was good and had a hefty amount, which I love. For lunch I got the California Turkey Avocado wrap. Delicious!!!!! I’m going to dream about that wrap. Not only was my order quick and correct, but I made the mistake of placing an order online for the other location! I felt horrible and called right away. They were sooo sweet and transferred my order to this Ansley Mall location right away. I appreciate their flexibility during a busy time of their day!! It sounded like they are having issues with supplies (who isn’t?!) and hiring employees (who isn’t?!). Cut them some slack if something isn’t available or takes a little longer. Also everyone was so nice, if you know anyone who needs a job have them apply! I will definitely be back!!! Thank you Brooklyn bagel...
Read moreTheir French Toast bagel is good if you can ever manage to get one, but I’ll never come back here based on their customer service. They are all about money instead of even attempting to fix their mistakes. By the way if you’re going to use DoorDash with your store then you need to call people to let them know when you’re out of stock of something instead of just giving them anything, you should ask what they would prefer. I work in a store that uses DoorDash and we do this whenever something is out of stock because we actually care about our customers getting what they want and pay for. If you don’t have time to do that you shouldn’t offer DoorDash as a service. Instead your store is just money hungry and sends out whatever they feel. Now time and money is wasted since DoorDash only offered a $1.40 refund WITH PHOTO EVIDENCE and you gave me something I don’t like or want. You guys didn’t offer a refund when I came back in person within 15 minutes of picking it up or try anything else to resolve the issue. Money hungry like I said, the attitude of the employee was “Oh well, who’s next?” Basically. You guys ruined my day completely. This is the second time this week. First time I came in to order, waited 20 minutes just for them to call my number and say they don’t have what I want….But had what I wanted when I ordered, I could physically see it and the person who took my order obviously. That’s why I tried ordering earlier through DD this time. But no. Never again will I waste my time here. I don’t even live close by I drove an hour out of my...
