I've visited Mediterranea three times, and I've enjoyed it each visit! I loved seeing this place open up in my neighborhood, and it's become popular very quickly. Our first time there, we hadn't made a reservation, and there was only room at the bar. The atmosphere of the small lower floor dining room is intimate and romantic. The staff is friendly and happy to tell you about the dishes and make recommendations.
During our first visit, we got the scallops (I thought the orange was an odd pairing), roast chicken with root vegetables (which was great) and the spreads quartet (which we loved!). I can't remember what we got the second time, but I was on the Whole30 cleanse/diet at the time, and the waiter helped me out a good deal with finding something I could eat. A funny thing, though, when my dish came to the table, it had an unexpected side to go with the main food. The waiter explained, "I wasn't sure if the original side had butter in it, so I had the chef prepare something different for you so you could enjoy it while still being Whole30." I appreciated him looking out for me, and it was a little weird that he didn't let me know beforehand, but I tend to roll with things like this, so I wasn't upset.
My third visit was a quick breakfast with a friend. I got a blood orange soda (in a can) and a muffin, and I loved both. I keep seeing lovely pictures of their breakfast and brunch options, and I really want to return to indulge myself with those foods. My first time trying to go there for brunch, though, I discovered the restaurant doesn't open till 10:30 on the weekends. We were really hungry, so we started a small family tradition of going to Dakota Blue for brunch instead (about a mile away). I'm sure I can convince my husband to try again with me, though, maybe during the week when they open much earlier.
My husband has a larger appetite than I do, and both times he had dinner with me here, he didn't leave feeling full after his entree. I've always been happy with my portions, though, but take this into consideration. The food here is very, very clean, and won't have much carb foods, which means your body won't feel full as quickly as it would if you were having a burger or pasta.
There's free street parking around the restaurant. I haven't visited the rooftop patio yet, but it's on my list. The entire place is very cool and yet down to earth thanks to the care and attention they spend on their ingredients and menu. The entire menu is Paleo and changes with the seasons to make sure you're getting the freshest and most delicious meals possible. Definitely...
Read moreI never leave bad reviews but this was the worst service experience ever. If you're looking for a mediocre neighborhood spot, this is it.
I was surprised by all the good reviews because it was truly a disappointment from start to finish. Our server Aly/Alice was very unprofessional. Upon ordering we let her know our dietary restrictions to which she immediately called us confusing. The first one was simple -- no cheese. You would think your server would remember that after writing it down but after diving into the hummus spread, she tells us it had cheese and yogurt in it and she walked away without seeming to care about it.
The second one was no onions and after waiting almost 40 minutes for our pizza that tasted like the store-bought CauliPower Pizza Crust, it had lots of onions on it. Because it took so long for the pizza to come out, we decided to simply pick them off and as we were doing so, she comes to ask us how everything is. She sees us picking off the unwanted onions and doesn't acknowledge it or apologize at all. It's as if she doesn't retain any guest information which is sad for a place that caters to those with dietary restrictions. To add to the evening, she had a tone the whole night. She never took our drink order so we sat for most of the dinner thirsty because she chose to pay more attention to the other guests, making multiple rounds while barely touching our table. From the host to the server, everyone just seemed like they didn't want to be there or be bothered with simple human interaction.
I had really high hopes for this place but now I have severe stomach pain because the server couldn't do her job. I live in the same neighborhood as this restaurant and was hoping it would be my new favorite spot, but after today, I will not be returning or recommending...
Read more100% gluten free restaurant, which is incredible!! Love being able to eat most things here. I’m also dairy free, so about 1/3 of the dishes I couldn’t modify.
My husband ordered the involtini (thinly sliced vegetables rolled around cheese; served with rice). He liked it, very different tasting. They said it was one of their most popular dishes
I got the truffled funghi pizza - it was ok, but I wouldn’t order it again. It looked unpleasant, with the big globs of duxelles. I think it needs some other items to break up the taste, which I’ll do with my leftovers. The pizza dough is more like a flatbread or naan type in my opinion versus a normal pizza crust.
Husband ordered a $10 old fashion - it was maybe 1/3 full - never seen such a tiny pour. Hopefully it was a mistake. As that drink that pathetic.
The pecan pie was 5/5! Highly recommend the butterscotch pecan pie - that was fabulous, want more! The blueberry cheesecake was the only DF option for desserts - it was pretty good too, less sweet than the pecan pie
Note the menus you see on here from before 2022 were the pre covid menus - they don’t serve most of those items anymore. I posted a photo of their updated menu. I honestly wish they’d bring more of...
