I moved near the area and I have been wanting to try this place after finding it on Google maps. My girl and I finally found time and decided to give it a go.
When we got there we were waiting to talk to the host to ask for a table of two. We felt a bit ignored and the staff were looking at us but not saying hi or greeting us. We didn't think much of it, and then the host finally came.
The host stared at us blankly, so I asked for a table of two. She said just a minute so we sat down and waited. We overheard her conversation with the people behind us, and they were greeted and told they'd be given a seat soon.
After waiting ten minutes, another waiter grabbed the people behind us and sat them down at a table. At this moment we were a bit surprised and shocked, and felt a bit discriminated towards and it was fairly obvious at this point. One of the waiters actually noticed what happened and went to tell the other employee that wasn't okay but she said "I didn't see them oh well", and we could hear their whole conversation from the table by the bakery.
Immediately after another waiter let us know a booth would be cleaned immediately for us, but we felt really uncomfortable by some of the staff so we decided to leave.
After being treated this way I felt it was just best left and take my money elsewhere. People of...
Read moreThese people know what they are doing. If you are in town I suggest that you stop in and grab a bite to eat. You will not be disappointed. Wednesday is Pie Day. You get a piece of pie with your meal during lunch. You can eat it there or take it to go. This place is a much loved destination for work lunches, breakfast, and as I have done after work coffee and a tasty treat. They even offer a few dinner casseroles that you can take home and bake. Each one I have tried have made it back into my fridge at one time or another. The desserts, oh my gosh, the desserts. Let me tell you, Cherry Pie, Apple Pie, Berry Pie, Banana Creme Pie, Chocolate Creme Pie, Key Lime Pie, Peach Pie, Pie that is Sugar-FREE, Seasonal Fruit Pies, Pecan Pie. Don't forget the melt in your mouth dinner rolls, breads, muffins, and pastries. Cookies that may seem a little more and a little bigger than you think, do it, you have to try some or get some for a friend. There is nothing like a host gift and as they are to die for and you can't go wrong with any of the flavors. The menu may be simple but above the standard roadside fair. Filling, healthy, and tasty as all get out. Whether you finish your meal there or take it to go, the food holds up and is worth...
Read moreI have lived near Janz for over three years and my wife finally got me to go. They have two sections, a nice coffee shop and the restaurant area. Very clean. Nice to see that the owner was there and working.
The lunch I was interested in was a sandwich and potato salad. I hot a bbq sandwich, my wife a French Dip, and it was free slice of pie day!. From what I could tell everything is made on site and made well. Best sandwich roll I have had in a restaurant. The food was good and the pie not over sweet and, again, baked fresh with crust from scratch. Everyone in the place seemed happy with their meals.
Now for the service. The owner comes from a group known for their honesty, faith, and a work ethic. I only bring this up because the workers were always working and took personal ownership of the cleanliness, the quality of the food, and ensuring the guest has a good experience. The young lady who was working out table was a delight. This experience is similar to what you find in Texas and other Southern states, the workers really care about their customers.
We will be back. They have the Atwater location, one in Merced in G Street in with the medical offices by El Portal, and one in Mariposa. I went to...
