This is the WORST experience I have ever encountered going out to dinner. Arrived at restaurant 6pm and told we had an hour wait for 6 people. Totally understandable on a busy Saturday; however after an hour and a half waiting, we we're told they still didn't have a table. Finally seated at 8pm! We we're only passing through with travel time still ahead of us and no other dinner options; but after 2 hours waiting for a table, we at least we're about to feed our family right? Wrong!! Ordered by 8:10pm, told at 9pm by our waitress she saw our food being plated. At 9:26 I asked our waitress how much longer. Apparently that was an unreasonable question because another employee standing next to her snapped at me saying "we know, we've been here all night" I replied "yes, she was working and being paid, we're just trying to have dinner." We're not a rude or impatient family, but there was no excuse now for this delay or behavior. Have you ever wondered what its like to be adrift in space? That is what it felt like waiting for food at Foggy's. After 5 minutes short of our 4 hour wait, we finally got food. Hats off to the chef and grill master, the food was good; not a 4 hour wait and horrible treatment from wait staff good, but good. To make it clear; we ordered 2 burgers, 1 pork sandwich, 1 steak sandwich and 1 steak.....even being busy, it was obvious this establishment has zero management and customer service ability or skill. We watched countless 4 people tables come, eat and go as we continued to wait. After I asked how much longer for our food, our waitress never returned to our table to update us or fill drinks. She did have time however, to talk about us (as we sat 5ft away) with the other employee covering her lips so we wouldn't know? After we ate, she brought our bill where I politely asked if they we're going to take something off for the long wait. The answer of "no, nothing we can do about that" with no apologetics didn't come as a surprise by this point. Normally, I would not have accepted this as an answer, having recieved the unacceptable service we'd been given; but exhausted, frustrated and it already painfully obvious the staff did not care, we paid our $150 bill and tipped the person who actually deserved it.....the guy on the grill. First 2 hours we waited in our vehicle for a table. The next 2 hours we waited while watching this guy on the grill be cheerful, kind and an amazing cook to boot!! Soooo....if your wondering should you try Foggy's, our review is this; yes if you want a good steak and nothing else is open, absolutely NOT if you want good service. Personally, we will NEVER do business here again and that will be our advice to anyone who asks, and heck, I guess everyone we tell our horrible experience to will...
Read moreLet me start with I have never written a review in my life. We decided to go to dinner here, on a Monday night here in June with our 2 and 4 year old as we had been working at our cabin all day (tired and eaten alive by mosquitoes). We came in sat and ordered within 10 mins. Drinks came fast waitress was attentive, but my husband’s two hearted beer was sour/something wrong with the keg. The waitress couldn’t explain but she apologized and got a bottle and made it right, great no problem. Drinks round 2, great. We have now been waiting over an hour for 2 steaks and a meatloaf meal. We watched over a 1/2 dozen tables get served before us who came in quite a long time after us, steak and non steak food items. The waitress did come over about an hour in and said did I mention we are short staffed, obviously that was not mentioned previously. The steaks finally came over a hour and half after we ordered, and to no avail no kids food (meatloaf). I asked where the kids food is and she said it’s coming. I looked at my husband and said I’m done I can’t handle this, the kids are tired, hungry and ready for bed at this point. We boxed up our steaks, said no thank you to the meatloaf since it wasn’t going to get eaten anyways. The owner (some woman) not the 2 “sons” spoken of on website or who was on under the radar Michigan, spoke at/demanded to my husband that we are paying for the meatloaf. We are extremely big supporters of local businesses, but so sadly in this case cannot continue support a restaurant with such an owner who clearly doesn’t care about her customers/has no experience in customer service. We are extremely generous people and never wanted or expected a free meal, just to be served in a timely and respectful manner/correct your mistake in some sort of way. Even a heartfelt apology would have made a world of difference. Instead we were met with rudeness and defensiveness. Burnt breadsticks and underdone steaks (ordered medium) it was rare even after hearting it at home for 1:30. There are so many more places worth spending your HARD EARNED money at in the area Pictured Rocks Pizza, duck pond, Eh Burger, Border Grill,...
Read moreThis place was recommended en masse when we told our friends we were spending some time up in the Munising area. I've tried to be fair with my ratings, but it wasn't a very good experience. They were busy on a Friday night, which is understandable, but we waited an hour for a table and watched several people who came in after us get seated first. When I finally mentioned this to the hostess, she apologized and took the buzzer back and said she hoped we had a better evening. When I explained that we weren't leaving, but rather hoping to be seated next, she wordlessly gave me the buzzer back and walked away. Before I went to wait longer, I looked at the clipboard and saw that there were around 10-12 names AFTER ours that had been seated and crossed out. Another couple waiting beside us confirmed that they had come in after us, saw us waiting, and watched several more couples come in, put their names on the list, take a buzzer, and get called up before us. We aren't rude people and I honestly can't think of any reason for targeted behavior, but I also have a hard time understanding how you could not notice names so far up the list that had not been seated yet.
Anyway, our buzzer eventually went off and we were seated. The waitress came once for drinks, then again for food. She never came back to ask about refills, which was a shame because it was another 45 minutes before we got our food and I would certainly have drank another beer in that span. The food itself was hot and tasted good, which was about the only positive thing I can say about the visit. I noticed that the cook staff got a few cheers as they ran back and forth from the kitchen, and they waved to the crowd. This was a nice switch from the wait staff, who looked genuinely surly and didn't smile once.
TL;DR: Good food, long wait, pretty...
