The pub isn't the same as it used to be. Does it have new owners? We went in on Fathers day 2025 at around 2pm. Collin was our server- he was GREAT. We ordered saurkraut balls ($10.99 for 5 golf ball sized kraut balls) as a starter and a bourbon bacon burger ($10.99, does not include a side) a Chicken Philly sandwich (10.99 no side) and 2 orders of onion rings (I believe they were $3.99 per order). The saurkraut balls were hyped up on their FB page so I was excited to try them. When they came out, it was obvious they had not been fried or baked as the coating was mushy and they came out in under 2 minutes. Turns out they were frozen in the middle and not even remotely warm and I really only saw heaps of mushy breading- not sure if there was any Kraut or not in them. Entree came out- the order of onion rings had 5 rings in 1 order and 4 rings in the other. Bourbon bacon burger looked good visually, but this was a frozen patty like you get in a bulk bag at Walmart- nothing special for that price. The Chicken Philly was on a 5/6" hoagie bun. There was about an ounce of cubed chicken, 4 red pepper strips and a couple onions. This was very chincy and not remotely warm. To top it off- we got HALF a pickle spear with our sandwiches. Is it really too much to give each plate a whole pickle spear? Especially considering the cost of the sandwich? This was a small thing but came across as ridiculous and cheap. The atmosphere was MEH- There were a few loud people in the bar that I suspect was the owner and maybe his family by the way they were talking and an older guy demanding the TV channels to be changed. It was a weird vibe and it was empty other than us in the dining area which i thought was unusual on Fathers Day afternoon. The bathroom was not clean and the garbage was piled high in the restroom- not been emptied in a while because there is no way it had gotten that full in just that afternoon, it is a big can by the sink, not a little 2 gallon type can. I'm very rarely hard on a business with reviews, but this needs said not only to people out looking for a good place to eat, but also maybe the owner can make some changes for the better. Again, I feel like somewhere there has been a change in ownership or management. We have always had a great experience at the Augusta Pub in the past. We hadn't been in awhile and made it a point that day to go specifically to the Pub which isnt easy right now for us because we live in Ohio and the Ferry is currently closed, so it was a much longer trip for us to get there. It was hugely disappointing other than our friendly server Collin. I hope the owner takes this review to heart and makes...
Read moreWe've eaten at the Pub many times prior to the new ownership and never had one bad experience. It's a beautiful place. However our first night with the new ownership has taught us that we will probably not return. A beautiful place does not excuse poor service and badly prepared food. We received our drinks and then never saw our waitress again for quite some time before she finally returned and said "are you guys just having drinks only tonight?" to which we replied that she'd never came back and taken our food order. When our food finally came, the bun on a cheese steak sandwich was rock hard and my shrimp basket was so over fried that the (3) onion rings they put on it we're stuck together and black burnt as well as the shrimp being fried into over crispy rubber. She dropped off our food and then we pretty much never saw her again until she stopped by to drop off our check. Mind you, my drink cup had set empty this whole time. Then after dropping off our check she never returned again so I walked up to the cashier's booth and asked another girl for a pen to sign our check with and was handed to highlighter to sign with that leaked green all over my hand... We couldn't leave quick enough. I agree with another review.. the price isn't worth the quality of the food or the service. We will be returning to YoungBloods Cafe instead from now on where the prices are very reasonable and the food is...
Read moreCame to Augusta on a wintery Saturday night, to celebrate my friend's Birthday. Not much open. We walked into Pub. Were told to seat ourselves, wherever. All booths we taken, 2 top, tables, too small, for 3 of us, wanting an actual meal. So we sat at long row of small tables, that can be pushed together, for a party, or pulled apart, to accommodate smaller parties. We were asked "do you "really" want to sit here". Well... we were told to sit "wherever" and there isn't really, any other spot, for 3". We DID sit on an end... so the rest of the tables, could accommodate..." "Well... if you want to wait... a booth will open up..." "Um, ok. I guess we will get drinks, wait.." 15min later, we were in our booth. And 15min, after that, a big party came in, sat where we were, originally... the 3 of us met 20yrs ago, waiting tables... if they were expecting a lg party... they probably shouldn't have told us, to sit "wherever". Server, took our orders. Dropped food off, for 2, of us, bolted. Um, ok. Birthday girl, no food. Where is her $30 Steak? See, our server, another, huddled around ordering computer. Pretty sure, she forgot to put my friend's order in. But she didn't come back, apologize, say it's coming. She SAT down, at a booth, a few down, with a few people (her friends). My Birthday girl, got her steak, 20min later... Food was OK. Not great....
