To start, I want to say that I contemplated a 3-Star rating but decided on 4 for reasons described below.
My order was two hard-shell tacos, one with onions and hot salsa added, one with onions and queso added (1.05 charge for queso, 0.20 per taco for onions).
Both tacos were clearly made with fresh ingredients; the slow cooked beef and vegetables were all very high quality. The shell was soggy where the meat was and broken, but overall crisp and delicious.
The taco with hot salsa was the better of the two, and the salsa will be plenty hot for most and was high quality.
The taco with queso, however, was disappointing. Queso is traditionally a spicey cheese sauce consisting of cheese and salsa, but what I got was low-end nacho cheese like would be expected from Taco Bell. The order slip has queso marked, but my receipt lists nacho cheese and a charge of 1.05. This ruined the otherwise high quality of ingredients and resulted in 4.20 wasted, and it was disappointing that a Mexican food place with "Legit" in the title would serve fast-food level condiments without advertising it as such.
The food, price considered (7.94 total for two tacos), would have warranted 3 stars had it not been for the great, friendly service I received. My food was ready on-time and the person who served me was extremely personable and made me feel at home. I will return again if I'm in the mood to splurge on food that's substantially better than Taco Bell.
I highly recommend that Lisa's uses real queso, removes it from the menu, or advertises it correctly to avoid wasted...
Read moreI will start with the good things: I appreciate the gluten free wrap for burritos and and the dairy free cheese options and I found both extremely satisfactory. I loved the fresh spinach greens and fresh tomatoes in the burrito. I loved the homemade habanero sauce and the spicy house sauce (they saved my experience). Everyone was pleasant, the bathroom was clean, and the food came out in a timely manner.
Okay, now the not so great stuff (i am well traveled and love spicy foods so you can blame this on my palate): If you are looking for a legit mexican or californian style burrito this ain't it and the restaurant chain Chipotle would sell you a more Legit and authentic burrito: the beans are canned and unseasoned, the sweet potato was like puree and completely unseasoned and no cilantro to be found anywhere on the thing. Yes this is a healthy option, but at $18 for a GF burrito consisting mostly of flavorless pureed sweet potato is overpriced for what I was expecting: Try Pedro's in Kennebunk, try El Ray (multiple locations-they even make guac fresh at your table), try Loco Taco in portland, or Guerrera Maya in south portland if you are looking for slightly more authentic tex mexa.
Overall, I do appreciate the GF and Dairy free option provided in this lunchtime establishment. I will be back when I am in a pinch for a quick bite and healthy option in the food dessert that is Augusta. Thank you for providing an option for a hungry gluten free/dairy...
Read moreSo I must say I was very excited about trying this place! We are from Florida and I can’t think of any burrito places. Plenty of Mexican restaurants but not burrito places. I was greeted immediately by a male employee! He was super awesome and offered complements as well! He gave some of his personal recommendations which was great being that I had never been there before. -LOVED LOVED LOVED the chicken and cheese quesadilla! Amazing! The cheese on top made it that much better. -The burrito was HUGE! I got the build you own legit size burrito. I was a little let down to see that the majority of that burrito was rice. Definitely needed more chicken for sure because the rice over powered almost everything. -Garlic habanero was great. Nice kick with garlic flavor was perfect. **Didn’t like that the older lady touched my food bare handed. I made sure to only eat the bottom 2 pieces of my quesadilla because of this and threw the other 2 pieces away-which sucked because the quesadilla was amazing. Especially during a pandemic...WEAR BOTH GLOVES. The lady was super nice but that was pretty gross. -the place was set up really good for social distancing which was awesome. -the cookies...hmmm HUGE! Amazing and huge is all I can say about them lol. Overall this place was pretty awesome. Had my burrito had more chicken and the lady had a glove on her ungloved hand it definitely would’ve been 5...
