This place is delicious!! Great service. I googled soul food near me and found this place. It wasn’t high on Google and it should be. The staff went over the whole menu with me quickly. Answered my questions and made suggestions. The food was hot and fresh. I took it to go but dining in was an option. The place was clean and I would have if planned. I gave it 4 stars bc it of the parking and signage to find the location. I live in FL but I am from the area and was familiar enough to find it by zooming in on Google maps but otherwise it still has the old masters kitchen and of course sign for the red carpet inn it shares road entrance with. With the traffic patterns and speed limit in that area you have to be looking it as opposed to seeing a place that as you ride and want to go check it out. Not sure how they are marketing but word of mouth is all I’ve experienced. THE RESTAURANT is GREAT! They just need people to spread the word and the parking lot sucks!! Not sure if it wheelchair accessible.. hmm I’ll see. It’s a 2nd location so it’s still adjusting to the area but I know that’s an old area so as a business that people can really enjoy I just hope they make it more appealing bc red carpet inn & surrounding businesses are not appealing. It’s in front of food bank. I will probably go tomorrow actually bc thinking about it has me hungry and craving the cobbler. I don’t drink lemonade but they have a really delicious strawberry lemonade! Update: the parking area has some good patchwork that definitely made a difference. I did a search this time and found this place sooner and saw the name in more places. They are on the way if they keep this up! We need great soul food and it’s not over seasoned or over sugared like some posers in soul food are. Im coming back TODAY befor they close for some Mac & cheese yum! NOT EASILY ACCESSIBLE...
Read moreThis location is awesome for good, flavorful, and deliciously cooked soul food/country cooking. The staff are immensely kind and accommodating. They change their menu every day to decrease the monotony of always having the same thing on the menu when you arrive. Even the restrooms are clean. The owner is well-known to our family and take great pride in ensuring that her customers have a most pleasant experience. We dined in today to support her business. The family thoroughly enjoyed their food and they give you plenty. We even were able to take food home. They have dine-in and take-out options. They are all invested in ensuring you have a pleasant experience and are satisfied. They serve their customers from the heart, which is why we observed people of various backgrounds driving up and ordering food nearly every 15-20 minutes. They are very popular and not only is the food well-seasoned but the experience in its entirety is as well. We highly recommend The Country Shack for good, down-home food for the soul...
Read moreGoing to start with what was good. Salisbury Steak: a little salty it was good. Mine look old though. I didn't care for the rice as I prefer jasmine rice texture but that's just me. This was and the ho cake only item I took more than 2 bites. Ho cake: tasty
Mac n Cheese: super oily and too many hard noodles in my serving. Flavor was okay but not creamy enough for me.
Greens: The greens were WAAAAY too salty omg. It was more salty than drinking soy sauce straight out the bottle. Ain't no way there needs to be that much salt in any kind of food ever. Salt is not seasoning its an enhancer.
Peach cobbler: I disliked the texture of the dough it was too doughy. Also too sweet and missing nutmeg.
I do (IF OMAD) intermittent fasting and one meal a day, so this was extremely disappointing to break a 20hr fast and not enjoy the only meal for the day AND be out of $25.
Final note, this may be good flavors the locals appreciate. If you're from out of state like myself this might be...
