Ok I so hubby takes me here. Thank you to their staff for ruining our date night!!
Had their steak dinner with rice, guacamole, enchilada with mole sauce and cheese and fried beans. $15.99 + tax
-Steak was excellent which is the only reason for the 1 star. Very tender and juicy. -Everything else was mediocre. Authentic? I think not! The beans were fluffy. Rice tasted bland like it just came out of the box. Mole? Yea definitely from the can. Horchata tasted chalky.
Definitely not worth the price we paid.
-I had to wait 45 mins after we ordered for the food. (Waitress took our order 10 mins after we arrived? Thanks for noticing us) We saw our waitress 3 times total (when she took our order, brought the food and then cleared out plates.) -My husband had to ask the hostess for a drink refill even though we flagged the space cadet down and she blantantly ignored us. -The space cadet waitress cleared our plates but never gave us our check. Had to go up to cashier without one.
-Had a band there of 3 old guys who can't sing together to save their lives. Was loud and rather annoying as they were playing right next to me. Seemed like they were more in the way of the staff and customers then actually helping business.
Needless to say, we won't be back and we did not leave a tip!
If your looking for a great and authentic Mexican place to try, this isn't the place for you. If you want cheap for expensive and to be ignored by your wait staff...

Okay. I'm white. My husband is white. I get it, we kinda stand out in a Mexican restaurant in a predominantly Hispanic neighborhood. But my husband had this amazing jalapeño margarita in Ottawa a few weeks ago and was itching for something similar.
We live pretty close to La Quebrada, and they had good reviews. Being a Mexican restaurant, we were hoping they had a good selection of margaritas.
The waitress was very nice, but unfortunately, they didn't have anything like what we were looking for. So he ordered a mango and I got a strawberry.
She dumped a ton of chili powder in them.
Like, a ton. There was a literal pile of chili powder in the center of the mango margarita. She even lined the glasses with chili powder. It was the most disgusting tasting thing either of us had ever tried.
So why am I rating them 5 stars? Because of the eagerness and good intentions behind the very poor decision making. We believed she was going above and beyond by recreating what we were looking for with chili powder. We drank the entire thing for fear of making her feel bad. 🤢
On the way home, I realized she might have been messing with the white people with weird ideas who happened to stop in on a random weekday. In that case, I still rate them a 5 for the sheer...

This place serves great ceviche! I dont know of any other mexican restaurant in the Chicagoland area which does. Reminded me of my trip to Cabos. Yummm! Very nice unpretentious family like environment. I've read a reviewer complain about a nacho order. Guy asks the woman, can you get me nachos? Well that's like telling someone, build me a house. What kind of house would you like sir? It sounded like she assumed he wanted the nachos from the menu. I would have reminded the customer what the dish was composed of or offer the different options available. This is a no hassle easy chill place. Ask about the dishes you order in case you'd like to substitute something. There is a Mexican restaurant nearby which uses French dressing on their salads and nachos.
